BROOKDALE LAKE ORIENTA

I have a family member at Brookdale Lake Orienta and wanted to provide my impressions after 6 months. Brookdale has provided a very welcoming environment. The staff and leadership have been outstanding both in terms of caring for the residents as well as communicating with family members. I definitely appreciate the visiting medical staff to include a primary care physician, a podiatrist and cardiology support. Less visits to doctor's offices and waiting for your doctor can not compare to this. I also appreciate the tailorable "assistance" that can be provided to your loved one dependent on their specific needs. The dining staff have been wonderful and the food is good and nutritious. The facility also has a fairly active social calendar which includes events inside and outside the facility. Yes, there are hiccups that occur during the stay, but my experience is that it is easy to get them addressed. Whether it is housekeeping or maintenance or even the nursing staff, it is easy to contact any of them and get a situation addressed and corrected.

The leadership of Brookdale Lake Orienta leaves much to be desired. Characteristics like respect, judgement and truth are lacking in my experience. Today, I was exposed to the Machiavellian communication style of a Director. Yesterday, I requested a glass of water from the dining room staff for my parent, and was told to "feel free and get it yourself in the kitchen." I did so and delivered the water to my parent. No big deal - right? Wrong. This morning, the leadership contacted a sibling (not me) to relay their displeasure with me for violating their lofty standards based on their inaccurate and limited information. Like the heavy-handed Director, my sibling accused me without giving me a voice. Shame on both of them. As is the order of the day, it appears in the case of the water glass, the powers tried and convicted without giving the accused a voice. I have requested the name of the Director who opted to speak to my sibling instead of me. Silence. Here's my truth - I do not report to my sibling nor did I do anything that was not approved by your staff.

We were in a time sensitive situation when a family member was released from rehab and would need assistance. We visited many different facilities in the area and many were not up to par at first glance. This location is beautiful! They have independent living and assisted living, also. Instead of levels you just pay for the services you need. They have activities all day, every day. They bring in some top notch entertainment and offer transportation to off site events. The location is so convenient right across from Advent Health Altamonte. When Jennifer gave us the tour she assured us they could work with us to get him in a temporary room asap and they did. I can't thank Jennifer and Joe enough for helping us get transitioned quickly and helping us with the process. Our loved one is in his own apartment and it feels like home. Residents can decorate their space to suit their needs. The maintenance staff was very helpful and even hung some things on the wall for us. Everyone at the facility has been kind, caring and friendly. We love going to the restaurant style dining room. The food is really good and the residents have many choices from the menu but can order how they like it! The dining staff really takes the time to get to know residents and their families. We signed up for the in house physician and the communication through the portal has been great. They ordered physical therapy immediately, which they do in apartment. Dad came in a wheelchair but now is getting around on a walker. He is so much stronger and healthier! They have a family event every month. The pics are from June's luau and they went all out with decorations. They had an entertainer on the steel drums, the place was decorated and the food, so delicious! Dad really enjoyed the Pina Colada cupcake with coconut ice cream and I loved the coconut shrimp. Thanks Jennifer and Joe @ Brookdale! We made the right choice!

My aunt is doing well now that she is in Brookdale at Lake Orienta. Joe Mcbride made sure my aunt had a nice room and everything was ready and she felt welcome. She gets 3 good meals a day so she is eating better and looks healthy again. The staff is very nice and they help her and clean her room, change her sheets and wash her clothes. I know that if she were to fall or needs help someone is there to help her. She is able to get her hair and nails done since the hair salon is on the first floor and she can walk there. The staff arranged for my family to have her birthday party in the cafeteria and my aunt loved it! Highly recommend.

The memory care facility is very deficient. My mother in law has Parkinson’s and requires precise dispensing of her medicines. We continuously have to confront the nursing staff as they often skip the medication, deliver at the wrong time of give her the wrong medication. This is a facility that we pay almost $7000 a month with a lot of sacrifice, assuming she was going to get the care she needed. We put a large non refundable payment on a facility we are not pleased with, and we are not sure if other facilities are any better. I do not recommend this facility to anybody for memory care.
