Our mom’s situation was getting dire due to her many falls at her home. I chose to call “A Home for Mom” to ask for help. The only place they recommend in Enid is Brookdale! I was amazed. So, we called for an appointment and within a few days our mom was nestled into her own apartment rooms. Negotiations were very professional, clearly explained. All possible financial options were explored for Mom’s needs.
Brookdale has given us peace of mind. Mom had one spell, but the staff was immediately there. They communicated with us immediately. Whew! The staff there wants to be there. We have made an effort to get to know everyone personally, and that is one major difference-they want to know us too.

My mom has been at Brookdale for the past two years . The staff is amazing and she gets great care. The few times we had an issue it was resolved quickly. I have had a good experience with the new administration in handling questions and concerns. Joy was attentive and understanding, and resolved my problem without undue stress or hassle, which I appreciated.

Once upon a time Brookdale Enid was a nice community, full of joy and care. I loved coming in and visiting my aunt, and hearing about all the wonderful things she had to say about the staff. Now, more recently, the management has gone down, and neither I, or my aunt for that matter, feel comfortable anymore. The new director, can be kind, however I have heard her, multiple times, scold employees, and on several occasions overheard her gossiping about employees to other staff. I find both to be highly inappropriate, and unethical.
The care staff was wonderful and my family never worried about the care that my aunt received. We were always greeted with a familiar face and a smile. In the past couple of months, the new care staff that has been brought in is by far mediocre, to say the least. I cannot recall seeing a single smile on any of the new staff members faces, one single time I have visited, which I do very frequently. It is very disheartening to think that if the new staff cannott treat a guest with respect, or at least be kind, how are they treating the residents.
I have tried to speak to the marketing manager a few times, but was brushed off as if I was not important.
The food is consistent, I would say, but lacking variety, however, I feel that is minor compared to the other issues I've stated.
In my opinion, from my observations, the biggest issue would be management. Prior to the new director, Brookdale felt warm and comforting. My family didn't have any issues with leaving my aunt, knowing she would be properly taken care of. It has only been in the past few months that our feelings have started to change and we are beginning to look elsewhere for care.
Having witnessed, and heard, the issues with management my self, I understand where the problem lies, and after the inappropriate, negligent, and borderline abusive behavior coming from the director, I can no longer support Brookdale, nor will I recommend them until it changes. If the supervisor above her had witnessed what I'm sure countless other people have, including residents, I would hope that she would be removed from her position immediately.
In the meantime, with our family unsure of our aunts proper care by new staff members, and inefficient management, we will be looking for alternatives living arrangements.

My visiting schedule is sporadic; I stop by to check on mom whenever I am in the area, at least once a week. My visits are on any day of the week at any time of day. In the over two years mom has been at Brookdale, I have always found mom clean, her hair neatly combed, and dressed appropriately with all the extras (jewelry, scarf). Due to the many planned activities, I general must go looking for her; she is seldom in her room alone. Her bed is always made and the room clean and orderly. Above all, she is happy. There seems to be a very low turn over in employees; therefore, mom has bonded with many of the employees who display a sincere caring for mom and mom feels "at home." Brookdale is indeed a blessing to mom and her family.
