This is a lovely, moderately priced facility, which feels more like a home than an institution. Bennett Place has one-bedroom and studio apartments. It accommodates only 39 residents, who furnish their own units with their favorite items and mementos. It is conveniently located off of I-265 and Charlestown Rd, close to groceries and shopping areas.
Good security, as staff must unlock the doors for entrances and exits. The building is laid out in a square with a nice courtyard in the middle. This allows residents to walk safely inside the equivalent of 2 or 3 blocks to make the full circuit. The dining room and den with a fireplace creates an open, "homey" feeling.
The staff take a personal interest in the residents, and they have planned daily activities and good outings like going to IUS musical performances and community theatre. A nurse practitioner, physical therapist, and podiatrist make scheduled visits..
As with any organization, sometimes you do have to remind the housekeeping staff of essential chores, but texts to the director usually gets things done. The nursing care is added on to their basic rent and is graduated according to the level of care one needs as time progresses. Thus, as your loved one becomes more dependent, they do not have to move into a separate facility.
The food is quite decent--sometimes excellent and sometimes mediocre, but much better than most institutional food. Guests can join their loved ones for a meal at a modest fee (less than the cost of a fast food meal).
My sister now resides here and is quite content, even though the move from her home was initially a challenge. She recently was hospitalized for a few days and commented, "Boy, this food really makes you appreciate Bennett Place. I can't wait to get back there." She has found a supportive, loving community and has bonded with other guests. We all are very grateful we found this place for her.

Bennett Place Assisted Living does a wonderful job supporting residents as they age in place. The staff are caring and attentive, and the environment truly feels like home. It’s clear they are dedicated to helping residents maintain dignity and comfort every step of the way. They offer a very welcoming environment, nestled perfectly in New Albany, Indiana. The staff are always great to work with! Highly recommend going to take a tour if you are searching for yourself, friend, or loved one.

I had Thanksgiving lunch at Bennett Place with my Dad. The staff, as always, was very attentive, and the food was delicious. I’m happy I was able to take part in this special time together. Bennett Place has become my second family.

Updated review. Well, here’s the good and the bad. Good: Beautiful garden and courtyard, nice dining room and nice apartments with nice bathrooms. The people are nice overall.
The bad: The lack of attentiveness. They aren’t paying attention when executing basic tasks; examples I’ve seen with my own eyes: spilling urine when emptying catheter bag, hanging catheter bag on wheelchair handle (it needs to be below bladder) not wiping the urethra when changing briefs, not washing face, not changing socks, no trash bags in trash cans, dirty clothes mixed with clean clothes, giving miralax daily when told to stop, 1+ hour call light wait times, or they don’t answer it at all. Not all aides have pagers or are lost. Some aides out if the building. You have to go daily and watch and monitor the care of your loved one constantly. It’s a struggle at $7k per month.
