Brookdale Niskayuna

My mom moved into Brookdale Niskayuna 4 months ago. Without a doubt, Brookdale Niskayuna is now her FAVORITE PLACE on the planet! We both love the staff, her nurses, the friends she's made, the resident activities she gets to be involved in, and everything supports her still-active lifestyle. The food is absolutely outstanding, and family is always invited to join when visiting. The facility is beautiful, immaculate and has a great vibe; you can tell people are HAPPY there as soon as you walk in. My mom was just diagnosed with dementia and wasn't able to live on her own, and living at Brookdale has brought her back to life again, truly. She has her meals made for her, her meds delivered to her, and has her own beautiful, safe apartment that she loves! I'm beyond grateful to the amazing staff for everything they do to love and support my mom...and treat her like family. The elderly people here are treated like superstars! Another huge plus for me/my mom: Brookdale has a nearby "sister" memory care residence when the time comes that my mom needs that. They've assured me it's an easy transfer. I can't say enough good things about Brookdale Niskayuna, and I trust them wholeheartedly with my mom's care and wellbeing.

My dad is a 93 year old gentleman who is diabetic, legally blind, and profoundly hearing impaired. I searched several facilities before choosing Brookdale and I feel deep in my heart that the best decision was made for him. He was hesitant to leave his home after so many years, but has settled into Brookdale as his new home for the past six months. All of the staff is very friendly and when problems have arisen, which they very likely will, the staff at Brookdale has been very quick to address and meet my father’s needs. Communication with the staff is the key because they are very receptive to making changes when necessary. No place is perfect, but when one gets to the point where they can’t live alone any longer, I feel a sense of peace that my dad is very well taken care of. He has become adjusted to having others help take care of him. He lives in a small apartment that gives him privacy and a sense of independence. The nursing staff meets his diabetic needs with excellence! We have received monthly phone calls from Brookdale staff to assure that my father is comfortable and happy where he’s at and to make any adjustments that we feel are needed. I would highly recommend Brookdale to any of my friends seeking a new “home“ for their loved one.

The thing that becomes very obvious after living there for a short time is corporate greed. It is very expensive, care is sub-par, and the turn-over for aids and waitstaff is constant. There is a cold, smile- to -your- face attitude, but no real interest in you besides money. Do not send your loved one there.( Niskayuna location )

I did much research before helping my parents select this place. I am pleased with the care my parents are receiving and recommend it for those who need assisted living. The staff throughout the facility is consistently kind, caring, helpful and supportive. They clearly are dedicated to the well-being of residents and respond quickly to questions and needs. The nursing staff is especially attentive and focused, and there is a welcoming atmosphere. Grateful.

Excellent, family-oriented team. All employees (front desk, nurses, aides, kitchen, maintenance and management) really cared about my parents, giving us a great sense of comfort. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.
