Since taking over the facility in March, I have seen significant changes take place in this facility from staffing, management and overall care for the building. This is not the same place it was a year ago. Residents are happier, more engaged, and have given great reviews for the dining facility.
This place feels like home! When walking in you will find a place of smiling residents and friendly staff. They always have fun activities and get togethers for the residents. Most importantly you feel like family here!
My beloved sister who has since passed in 2022 was a resident there from 2017-2021 in their memory care unit when it was called Bridgewater. Initially when she first arrived and her dementia was mild, the care and staff seemed to do a good job. However as her dementia worsened and Covid hit things rapidly and dangerously went down hill. The staff shortage was almost criminal and my sister ended up falling out of bed and breaking her arm because no one would answer her call light to take her to the bathroom so she tried on her own. No one from the facility called me until the next day and when I went to visit her she complained of her arm hurting. After I demanded they get an x-ray of her arm it was found she had a fracture in her R. Forearm. She had to be transferred to St. Joe's for surgery. I know sometimes falls can't be helped and they do happen so I was not too angry with the staff since for the most part they seemed to be doing a good job. Then about 6 months later she fell again trying to go to the bathroom and was not found by the staff until about an hour later and was found to have another fracture in the same arm requiring a second surgery. Neither the management or staff apologized for the negligence and decided they wanted me to remove her from their premises because she was too much to handle. She was in a MEMORY CARE UNIT. They advertised that their unit could handle all levels of dementia when she moved in to the facility. They were so worried that I would sue the company they sent me an email notifying me I only had 2 weeks to find another place to move her. Both the executive director and the director of nurses were rude and actually argued with me over the phone that they were not responsible for what happened. There is much more to this story but I highly recommend staying away from this facility. I did find a loving group home for her and she died peacefully in a loving and safe environment.
The Silver Birch of Midtown (previously Bridgewater) has made amazing changes in this community since taking over in March 2025. I’ve been impressed with the management team in place. I’ve witnessed a lot of happy residents!
What a beautiful community, very clean and well-maintained. The staff is kind, attentive, and truly care about the residents. The overall atmosphere is welcoming and positive, and the food is absolutely delicious!
