We had to move my parents to The Gables a few months ago because they needed constant care in a caring and warm facility. After touring and considering many places, I found the Gables to be heads and shoulder above the rest, and after several months they even exceeded my expectations. I will start with the personnel in charge, Rafael, Fajila and Barbara. Their personal involvement in every aspect of the care and its quality is very impressive. They always leave me with feelings of true compassion, empathy and care. The gentleness and the attentiveness and attention to the day to day and even hour by hour care is so comforting. Additionally, the rest of the staff that directly deal with the residents have been very patient, understanding and attentive. They all have very difficult jobs but they attend to it all with utmost professionalism. I feel I can speak to any of them at any time. Barbara’s honesty and attentiveness is so refreshing. Regarding the accommodations, restaurant and entertainment, I see nothing but a nurturing environment with attention to cleanness and a constant effort to make this a warm home. I highly recommend the Gables to anyone who is considering an assisted living environment for themselves or their loved ones. Well done and thank you very much!!

Navigating life transitions with aging can be challenging in many ways, especially after the loss of a parent and husband. As a family supporting our mother, the decision to explore and tour assisted living residences was met with reluctance. After visiting a few places, walking into The Gables Open House felt welcoming right away - from the beautiful layout and warm aesthetics to the kindness and professionalism of Sales Director, Kristen Woulfe and the staff. Midway through the tour, our mother smiled and said, “This is the one.”
Over the past three months it has been truly heartwarming to hear our mom convey how much she loves her apartment, the delicious food, the variety of activities, and meeting new people. The staff have been incredibly supportive, caring, and attentive, making this transition as smooth as possible for both her and our family. The Gables provides a wonderful balance of independence and privacy, combined with opportunities for increased assistance as needed.
We’re grateful to have found The Gables and highly recommend it to others seeking a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for their loved ones.

My Aunt and Uncle recently moved into the Gables at Winchester after several years of considering their options for senior living, and it was the best decision they could have made!
Starting w/ Kristen in sales - her patience and understanding of the emotional and practical challenges to move from their home of 50+ years to the Gables was exemplary. She answered all of our questions, several times over, with patience. A relatively new employee, Fajila, was compassionate, understanding, and incredibly helpful. The Exec Director, Rafael, was professional and easy to work with during the process. The nursing staff was really amazing too. They took care of my Uncle’s needs without hesitation! EVERY person we interacted with was friendly, caring, and engaged.
There are interesting activities and programming too. The food was very good, and the waitstaff were great.
The facility is very well maintained and designed for senior living. The grounds looked great especially for March in Boston.
I am so grateful to the team at the Gables in Winchester for providing my Aunt and Uncle a safe environment staffed with wonderful people.

The staff showed me at a very rough time that there are people and communities that know how to engage and meet elders where they are. I am so grateful for their compassion, joy, and respect. Rafael, Fajila, and Barbara are amazing.

My dad lived at the Gables for almost two years. He went a bit reluctantly at the age of 95. He was recovering from Covid and his children talked him into going for one month. Within one week he decided maybe he'd stay two months. Eventually he signed a lease and moved his furniture in. He was the mayor of the place. Within days everyone knew him, and he knew everyone. He played bridge, participated (and likely led) a Bible study, joined a book club, and signed up for many of the field trips. He loved the people, loved the food, loved being there. And they loved him back. As a daughter that visited regularly, I was immediately struck by the warm, loving, and friendly nature of the place. It was clean, bright, and cheerful. Everyone that worked there was top shelf! I brought my young grandchildren to several holiday events, and these events were always a big hit for my family and the residents. I highly recommend the Gables. Don't wait as long as my dad did! Eventually he admitted that he should have gone there sooner.
