I hired Always Best Care (ABC) of Aventura and North Miami in January of 2015 to provide non-medical in-home care and assisted living services to my sister who lived alone and who was suffering from dementia. As is not uncommon with dementia patients, my sister thought she did not need any non-medical in-home care and assisted living services. I had hired another firm in December 2014 to provide such services and, on each of three occasions, before their companion care employee was scheduled to show up, my sister called and cancelled to the visit even though she had earlier agreed to each of the visits. After contacting Cassandra Sturrup, the owner of Always Best Care of Aventura and North Miami, and describing what I believed my sister’s needs to be, Cassandra visited my sister on two occasions to assess her needs and other requirements. Cassandra called me to advise me of her findings and conclusions and to recommend a plan of non-medical in-home care and assisted living services. I was most impressed by both the thoroughness and comprehensiveness of Cassandra’s report. Between mid-January and mid-March of 2015, ABC provided a professional care giver twice a week for four hours per visit and the change in my sister’s behavior was remarkable. Always withdrawn, my sister began to exhibit signs of openness and acceptance of suggestions to better interact with those around her. Eventually, I had to place my sister into a facility specializing in the care of patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. But the dedication and professionalism of Cassandra and her employees made the two months so much more less difficult for me and my other sister.
