Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and monitoring vital signs.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Conduct physical assessments and document patient symptoms, medical history, and treatment progress.
- Perform specialized procedures such as cardiac catheterization, mammography, and ophthalmology exams.
- Educate patients and their families on proper healthcare practices and disease prevention.
- Assist with surgical procedures, including prepping patients, suturing wounds, and monitoring post-operative recovery.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Valid LVN license in the state of practice.
- Degree in LVN.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency situations calmly.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (e.g., Athenahealth).
- Experience in specialized areas such as pediatrics or cardiology is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and assist with patient mobility.
