Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description

Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides individualized support to clients, assist with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and basic housekeeping tasks, while also offering emotional support and companionship. Key responsibilities include helping with bathing, dressing, and grooming, preparing meals, light cleaning, and assisting with mobility. Responsibilities: *Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. *Helping clients with mobility, such as transferring from bed to chair or using a wheelchair. *Meal Preparation and Feeding: Preparing and serving meals, adhering to dietary restrictions. *Housekeeping: Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, cleaning, and changing linens. *Transportation and Errands: Assisting with transportation to medical appointments and other outings. Running errands such as grocery shopping. *Emotional Support and Companionship: Providing emotional support, encouraging engagement in activities, and offering companionship. *Medication Reminders: Reminding clients to take medication and assisting with med prep, as directed by healthcare professionals. *Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring client's health and reporting any concerns to the supervisor or case manager. Required Skills and Qualities: *Compassion and Empathy: Ability to be patient, understanding, and caring towards clients. *Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. *Physical Stamina: Ability to assist with mobility and other physical tasks. *Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage schedules and tasks effectively. *Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address routine client problems and seek guidance when needed.
