As a recommendation from Wellstar Cobb, I recently toured Anderson Mill Center for Nursing and Healing. I was truly impressed from start to finish. Jasmine Mclendon and other staff greeted me with warmth and professionalism, taking the time to answer all of my questions and walk me through the services they provide. The facility was bright, clean, and welcoming, with a calm, home-like atmosphere that immediately stood out. I noticed how engaged and caring the team was with the residents, which really reassured me about the level of attention and compassion given here. The therapy and activity spaces were well-equipped, and it was clear that residents have opportunities for both healing and meaningful engagement. The staff explained the different programs thoroughly, and I could tell they genuinely take pride in the quality of care offered. Overall, my tour left me with complete confidence that Anderson Mill is a place where residents are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. I will speak with the hospital regarding next steps for rehab placement.

My family’s experience with this facility was mixed, and I think it’s important for others to have a clear picture before making any decisions for their loved ones. Cons: Facility condition: The building is old and in serious need of remodeling and modernization. It does not have the clean, comfortable environment you’d hope for in a rehab or nursing facility. Cleanliness: During the two weeks my father stayed there, we only witnessed the floor being mopped and swept three times. Sanitation was a real concern. Bathroom situation: Two rooms (a total of four residents) are required to share a single bathroom. This would be challenging even under the best circumstances, but it was made worse by the fact that the bathroom often needed cleaning due to other residents missing the toilet or leaving feces on the seat. When staff were notified, it sometimes took up to two hours before anyone came to clean. Food quality: The food was disappointing, especially for residents on special diets. My father was supposed to be on a cardiac diet, yet his very first meal was french fries and corn dogs. When we asked leadership about this, their response was, “Well, we don’t want to take everything away from our residents.” This kind of approach is concerning when health-specific dietary needs are involved. Staff morale: While some staff members were wonderful, it was also clear that others were disengaged. It’s unclear whether that’s due to low morale, staffing shortages, or both—but it definitely impacted the quality of care at times. Pros: Caring individuals: I want to highlight that several members of the staff were kind, attentive, and went above and beyond. Special thanks to Nurse D, Nurse George, Gilly, “Blondie,” and Brianna for taking excellent care of my father. Rehab team: The rehabilitation staff were outstanding. They worked with my father patiently and professionally, and their support made a real difference in his recovery process. General Observations: We were fortunate that my family and I were always able to be at the facility daily during visiting hours. Frankly, it felt like our presence was the only thing that ensured more attentive care. This is an important reality for families to understand: if you are unable to visit your loved one regularly, there is a real risk that they may not receive the level of care they deserve. Bottom line: While the facility has some genuinely kind and skilled staff members, the cleanliness issues, outdated building, inconsistent quality of care, and poor dietary management are serious concerns. I hope leadership will take these issues to heart and make improvements. Families considering this facility should stay closely involved in their loved ones’ care to ensure their needs are met.

I love how this facility takes the time to personally connect with each resident, making them feel valued and included. Especially the activities director Niki Malone she is caring, committed and goes above and beyond every single day! I can tell the creativity, compassion, and dedication truly brings joy to the residents. The activities are always engaging, well thought out, and tailored to meet the needs of everyone. From fun games and crafts to music, and special events. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and it makes a world of difference. The energy and positivity she brings brightens not only the residents but also the entire atmosphere of the facility!

I had a great experience touring the facility. I was impressed by the level of activity—nursing staff were hands-on and engaged, with no one sitting idle. Jasmine gave me an excellent tour and made sure I felt informed throughout. I also had the opportunity to meet the Business Office Manager, who was very understanding and provided all the information I needed. As I walked through the hall, I was warmly greeted by the Administrator, which made the visit even more welcoming.

What an absolutely wonderful day spent with my brother! The weather was just right — warm with a gentle breeze, and to top it off, completely bug-free which made the yard space even more enjoyable. We shared some great snacks, had plenty of laughs, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere. There was such a positive spirit all around — everyone was in a great mood, and you could really feel the good energy. Days like this are rare and special — simple, joyful, and unforgettable. I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
