BRIARCLIFF MANOR CENTER FOR REHAB AND NURSING CARE

Extremely pleased with Briarcliff Manor. The team is universally kind, caring and thoughtful. My Dad has been a resident in the rehab center for over a month. The PT and OT team deals with his dementia compassionately and is able to engage him in exercise successfully. Everyone from the EVS staff through dietary, nursing and others deals with him in a respectful manner demonstrating patience consistently. The place is clean and the trash is picked up, linens changed and hallways cleared faithfully. Most striking is the esprit d'corps. The team is cheerful and seem happy to be working here. The sound of laughter is common, and the staff appear to like one another. In a world of under staffing and stress, this feels like an oasis of calm and good cheer. Kudos to the leadership!

I am currently a resident and I wanted to share my experience staying here so far. I take therapies and the rehab department is excellent. I take PT, OT, and Speech pathology. The therapies are excellent with friendly staff. Everyond here has been friendly and knowledgeable. Rahul the concierge is a go getter who always does more than required. He is a enthusiastic worker who always goes above and beyond to get the job done in a timely fashion. Overall, I recommend this place to my friends because it offers great service and care. Although, the dietary department could improve by offering better diabetic options!

I was a patient at Briarcliff for four months and it was a living nightmare. The majority of the staff are cruel and unprofessional. I was sworn at, given wrong doses of meds, given meds hours late, not given meds at all and had nurses document incorrect information in my medical records (confirmed by the facility’s doctor). I found a dirty needle that belonged to another patient in my room. There were patients wandering the halls and into each other’s rooms at night. It feels more like an insane asylum than a nursing facility. I woke up to a male patient in my room in the middle of the night. No one came when I screamed or rang my call bell. I was on a straight catheterization schedule of every 4 hours but was forced to wait up to 10 hours at times. At one point I had to call 911 because of the extreme pain it caused. On another occasion I was experiencing severe abdominal pain and my nurse thought I should go to the hospital. She went to speak with a supervisor who came into my room shortly after and told me that I could go but had to find my own way there and “they would not hold my bed for me.” I lost count of the number of hours I spent in wet or dirty diapers and often heard the staff discussing how the patients who couldn’t speak were left for much longer. They send staff around to turn off the call bells and tell you they’ll “let someone know.” You are lucky if anyone ever arrives to actually help. I am fortunate that I am young, cognizant and able to advocate by myself. It was the only way I survived. My heart breaks for those that are not able to do the same. I have no idea how this 4+ star rating exists. It was why I thought it was safe to come here but it does not at all reflect the actual experience. A younger patient died and a nurse said to me, “my first thought was, what did this place do to them?” I think that says it all. ps - Phoebe belongs in anger management, not a management position.

This rehabilitation center is very nice. The staff is very professional and I have enjoyed my time here. Nan in rehabilitation is very good at his job, he is very good with his patients. Debra Williams

The facility is outstanding! Immaculate. And furnished so beautifully. The greeting, was awesome. The staff amazing. Audi was just charming, helpful and so very professional. I was very comfortable from the minute. I stepped in. Robert is going to be well, taken care of. I was with him for lunch, and I was with him for dinner. The food was outstanding. Thank you!
