I was terrified of placing my dad in a nursing home for any reason. Pine Knoll was recommended by a nurse who had been here for rehab. I am so glad I chose to place my dad's care in the hands of the nurses, CNAs and therapists at Pine Knoll. I visit often and on different days. I have personally observed the care and compassion they give not just to my dad, but to every patient I have watched them with. They readily answer any questions I have with true concern. They call me any time he has an issue with his health and tell me what they are doing and plan to do. I sleep better knowing he is cared for when I am not there. I cannot name one specific person as excellent, because ALL of them are! Thank you for making a difficult decision easier to accept and understand.

I am very pleased with Pine Knoll. The nurses and the staff have been wonderful with my mother. They are great with communication and I feel better knowing that I can trust them with her care.

My father has been since September 16th. It has been a very pleasant and nice welcoming to my father and my sister and myself. They have gone above and beyond to care for his every need as putting sugar in his tea salt and pepper his food to cutting up his meats. Therapy has is wonderful , cause he is hard headed like we all will one day. Thank for everything that is being done for him.

I try to find EVERY little thing to be grateful for. When this happened to me my daughter Sherle was only 21 months old, Jonah was about 12 and Noah was about 9. Sherle and my newborn son Jeremiah could have been adopted out if it weren't for my aunt Sherry stepping in when she did. I'm also thankful that I didn't die when this happened. The day after giving birth I had surgery to get my tubes tied and they screwed up causing a stroke, my AVM to rupture and a 4.5 month coma! Here are the benefits of being here at Pine Knoll Nursing Home. - mom doesn't have to worry about my medication anymore. She would worry that I would either accidentally overdose because I might forget or that I would have a seizure because I would forget to take my seizure medication. Here at Pine Knoll we are staffed with nurses who keep track of our medication and administer it as the times it's supposed to be given to us. - mom would always wonder what I would do in case of a storm or power outage. Here in Atlanta we often have tornadoes and sometimes hurricanes. At Pine Knoll they have weather alerts and protocols that they follow to keep us safe. - my mom would also worry about what I would do in case of a fire! Here at Pine Knoll they have codes and protocol that they follow to keep us safe in case of a fire. Also the fire department is aware of the nursing home being here and having all of these wheelchair patients. - Getting dressed every morning and getting three meals a day is a challenge for me that my mom often worried about. That is why I had a caregiver 7 days a week. Here at Pine Knoll we have CNAs 7 days a week that do those types of things. They get us dressed every morning and change our diapers. If we choose not to get out of bed they leave us in the bed and the ones that do want to get out the bed, they use the joyer lift and put us in our wheelchair. -I was getting physical therapy because this is a therapy place as well. However, that is one of the things my mom always worried about as well. She wanted me to get therapy. I will have to talk to somebody about me resuming it but they do have that here at Pine Knoll. - my mom also worried about me staying active. I like to get out and to stay busy. Well, here at Pine Knoll we usually have two field trips a month that you can sign up for. They take you out in the community on the Pine Knoll Bus. They have two activities per day with the activities department at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. . And we eat breakfast lunch and dinner in the dining room at 7:00 a.m., noon and 7:00 p.m. . Most people choose to eat in the room though. We also are allowed on the front porch where there are rocking chairs for those who can walk. We also have a courtyard where we sometimes have activities during the summer and our vegetable garden where we plant and harvest vegetables. Also, we get showers three times a week. Some people refuse that and only get a shower once a week. Me, I love my showers! I would prefer one daily if I could!! - Medical Care is a daily thing here. My mom would constantly worry about my care but here at Pine Knoll we have a nurse practitioner here 5 days a week and a doctor once a month. The nurse practitioner checks on us once a week and the doctor checks on us once a month. BUT we are NOT allowed to share our food here. The dining manager, dietitian and nurses all work together to keep us safe. We are on different diets so that is why we are not allowed to share food with each other. Some people have teeth and are on puree or mechanical. Some people are on a regular diet like me and can eat whatever they want. Some people don't have any teeth and don't have dentures so they are on a special diet. Some people are diabetic and can't have certain things. And some people are allergic to things and can't have certain ingredients. The list goes on and on. I didn't know that so when I got here at first I was confused as to why they didn't want me to share. I thought they were being mean to me. 😂

My father has been here for about a month now and I can’t say enough about the people looking after him from the custodial staff to the nursing and therapeutic staff. They have kept us very well informed about his plan of care and have helped us navigate this season in our life more than any other rehab facility has done for us in the past.
