This place should be your last resort for your loved ones. The staff is not friendly or professional and does not seem to care about the residents. The aides lack the ability to even pretend they enjoy their jobs. They always had a blank look on their face and seemed to be bothered if you asked them a question about anything. One aide told my niece whose mom was there that she wouldn't leave her dog there. That statement caused my niece to have nightmares. She eventually moved her mom out. The building is not clean and reeked of urine. Oh, they try to cover the smell by sitting a ton of air fresheners around throughout the facility. So you can bet they were not mopping the floors or cleaning the place. The residents are left alone for long periods of time wondering around unattended. The meals that were served to the residents were crap. All in all, this facility is not a good one.

This place is HORRIBLE!! They absolutely DO NOT CARE at the facility! Staff neglect the residents. I go to visit my Aunt they never know where she is . Once I find her(after searching different wings which is where she was on the north I stead of her side south) Clothes missing. Always in something that do not belong to her. My aunt never has on any of her skin care such as lotion. Which is why her skin is cracking and creating skin tears and such. They don't call to report her falls . Her shoes has disappeared 3 different pair. I am having this place investigated by the OIG I also encourage anyone with a complaint to do the same. I would not recommend anyone place anyone nor anything in this building. The company should be shut down!

My brother was at Burlington House for about six weeks. He fell often and broke his hip. He always had bruises and scabs everywhere. The final fall killed him.I did not receive one condolence call after he died. This place is a snake pit . I do want to make a positive shout out to Sarah and Aramis who were always kind. Often I would go to the service desk to ask a question and they wouldn’t even look up from the computer screen. The nurse on South and the tall African young man were exceptions to this. They were helpful. I would never recommend Burlington House.

Please be aware of placing your loved one here. My mother was there for over four years. When we first put her there it was being managed pretty well. However, over the past 3 years it has steadily declined to the point that I felt my mother was in danger of dying under their care. I tried to visit her once a week to stay on top of her care there. She ended up with a horrible UTI from her diaper not being changed and her not being bathed regularly. They only did one round of antibiotics initially which took them two weeks to start her on. When I went up weekly, I changed her diaper myself and noticed she was still in pain and the smell was so bad I knew she was still experiencing a UTI. I tried to be as calm as possible when speaking with the nursing staff so that she would be cared for in a kind way when I left. I spoke with their nurse practitioner who admitted to me that she was trying to look for other solutions than just antibiotics for the residents with UTIs because there were so many of them that the nursing home was getting dinged for them by the state. When I visited I felt so sad for all of the residents. They are constantly wearing filthy clothes. I’ve seen some with their diapers soaked and down around their ankles. While there were some nurse’s aids who truly tried to care for these residents overall the nursing staff and the management didn’t seem to care enough to improve the care for their residents. I was able to move my mom to a much better facility and debated not following up with a review for the Burlington house but I feel that others need to be aware of the lack of care for these poor residents. On top of the lack of care, their business department and the executive director have failed to return several calls regarding my mom’s funds never reaching the funeral home or cemetery that the Burlington house was directed to send her money to. I have even stopped in twice to meet directly with Melissa their business manager and gave her a print out of my mom’s bank records that show the extra withdraws they took from my Mom’s account that were supposed to be sent to a funeral home and cemetery to pay for future services. After being informed by both the funeral home and the cemetery that the funds were never received, I have tried several times over the last three months to figure out what happened to the checks. Melissa told me that the corporate office would get back to her and then she would get back to me. She never has. I contacted the executive director and he told me the same thing. He’s never gotten back to me either. At this point, I’m going to contact the office of the Inspector General.

I was optimistic about this place because of the reviews but I was disappointed. The smell at times could be quite strong. There needs to be more interactions with the staff and residents. Everytime I came to visit, everyone was always sitting, looking overmedicated, drooling. I guess all the residents come and go as they please in each others rooms, which isn't a problem until the pictures we left came up missing. I had my loved one transferred to another facility and he only came with his radio and the clothes on his back. No one seems to know where his stuff is. The caseworker is pleasant and seems to enjoy her job. However she must be overworked because she rarely returns calls and follows up with things she has said she was going to do. My loved one often complained about the vulgar talk that the staff would engage in, with residents within earshot. I'm glad we got out of there.
