My mom was a resident for a little over 2 months while I tried to find a memory care facility that accepted Medicaid. I was very pleased with the level of care my mom received, even though she was more memory care and not skilled nursing. It was hard for her to feel she was losing her independence being placed on a unit with all levels of dementia where the staff is used to the residents requiring more care. She gave positive notes to me about the staff being fun to pick with and talk to, and the food was pretty good. I always felt she was safe and well cared for by the staff. While I have since moved her to a memory care facility more suited for her level of Alzheimer’s, I was very pleased overall with our experience at Bria.

I really wasn't please from day one but decided to stay after realizing we knew the admissions director Ms. Pamela from Administration, She helped to explain the process and we decided to give Elmwood Park a chance. The DON was trying to help as well but Social Services dropped the ball, Jonathan was his name. I did not get the service that I needed to help my mom. She is home now and I felt obligated to share my experience. She did not get the care she deserved. She acquired a wound there as well and she was in the room with a patient who had covid. They never had any clean towels, the smell was horrible.. Food was cold and therapy wasn't done on a regular basis and that's why her wound got worse from laying in bed all the time. I am mostly sad and disappointed with the lack of care my mom received, I will say that Nicole from nursing, Kim from activities helped us as much as they could. I pray for change for other families.

My mother died here as a result of not being fed (she lost 27 pounds in a year), developing scabies TWICE in 1.5 months that miraculously, no one can explain (no one in our family who visited her had scabies, so she did not contract it from us), and all of her clothing, blankets, and gold necklace went missing. I contacted the home since her passing to pick up her belongings and no one has returned my calls. Irene, the administrator, is always in a meeting and does not return calls; Laura, one of the social workers adamantly promised that she'd call me back within 20 minutes of my phone call regarding the whereabouts of my mother's items - that was 10 days ago and I've never heard back; and Jonathon (another useless social worker) has allegedly been on vacation for two months. Everyone has their voicemails set up to "mailbox" full, which remains in this state. As a medical professional, I am well-aware that my mom's death was expedited because of this "home's" negligence and abuse. As a patient who died from a neurodegenerative brain disease, she was taken advantage of and left for dead. When I hired a hospice nurse for extra support (i.e., feeding my mom and bathing her, which the nursing home rarely did), the home refused to allow hospice in for over a year - had they allowed hospice in earlier, my mother would not have met her demise as quickly as she did. I will be filing a police report for stolen merchandise and filing a claim against their insurance. DO NOT make the mistake of thinking that this TORTURE CHAMBER is adequate or dignified for your loved one. You will suffer immeasurably by their harassment demanding money that was already paid, watching your loved one wither QUICKLY, and fighting to find out which "upstanding employee" stole your loved one's items.
