My family member was sent here post-surgery. They didn't read his chart, give him his prescribed medicine, or follow his post-op procedures. The doctor at the Carlton never saw him in the 3 days he was there. Then he was left unattended in a dangerous position for his surgery, lost blood flow to vital organs, and we had to beg the Carlton to send him by ambulance back to the ICU. He literally needed a follow up surgery that may not have been necessary if he was well cared for. Unacceptable.

I would definitely not recommend this facility to anyone. My mother and other's we know have had such terrible treatment there at the "Carolton Rehabilitation Center" in Fairfield CT. They have their patients sitting in wet diapers for three hours or more and last night my mother didn't get her dinner she asked for. They are extremely rude when confronted about any issues. The only aid there that is very helpful is "Gedna" unfortunately she doesn't work 24 hours a day. The last straw was when they took my Mom's oxygen away and told her she didn't need it, these aids are not medically qualified to make that call. She's on 24 hour oxygen and can't go for even five seconds without it. Now I understand why over the years I've heard people say to stay away from the "Carolton". It's clear as day why these comments were made. I'm amazed that the state hasn't stepped in and monitor this particular facility. I plan on filing a complaint with the State of CT tomorrow. We did speak with a social worker "Evan" regarding these issues on Friday afternoon and since then you would think things would be better instead just the opposite is happening. Beware of this facility!!!

The Carolton is the best place for your loved one to be rehabilitated or in long term care. We have been to three places, and the Carolton is by far the best! They treat patients like family. Cathy and Shannon, are so loving, warm, and really look out for the best interest of all their residents. They really care and show kindness in everything they do! The nurses and therapists meet the patients’ needs and respect the patients’ wishes in wanting to reach their personal goals. The medical care is exceptional! They communicate with family every step of the way. The nurse practitioner Liz never meets a beat and handles very complicated cases with ease. She is on top of each patient and gets treatment before small things become problems. The facility is very clean, and the residents are happy and really enjoy the friendships they build with each other. Since all their needs are met, they can spend quality time together. It is so hard to make end of life decisions for your loved one, but Carolton makes it easy! They are the place I want to go if I’m blessed to live that long! Thank you Carolton for accepting us as part of your family.

First day had high Hope's for this facility to take care of my physical therapy needs. As the evening progresses I'm still without surgery pain medication waiting until 8¹/²hrs later. Also on a high calorie diet heads up I'm going to bed hungry honestly very disappointed ! January 1st 2021 nurse Anna who was taking care of my blood pressure on that evening and bedtime I asked where is my night time long lasting insulin she then replies we don't have it at 12:05 a.m. technically January 2nd she says doctor Miller did not put in the order just like my pain meds he never ordered it. Saturday January 9th 2021 I was told by Elaine they didn't have any of my morphine 15 mg medication from surgery they had a higher dose so if I was to take the higher dose I would be left in bed lethargic because it was just too much for me also would make me nauseous and throw up. Because of the higher dose I had to take because they didn't have the lower dose I technically could not do any physical therapy missing my appointment. I was In severe pain and discomfort 13 and a 1/2 hours later is when my medication finally came in, By then it took about 3 days to catch up on my Correct dosage to finally have pain management under control this was a huge setback for those 3 days Because it then set me back on physical therapy Again which this is why I'm here. Friday afternoon January 16th 2021 started feeling a lot of pain in my legs again started feeling like I wasn't on the right medication for my neuropathy I also realized that I had those little floatys in my right eye Now the last time this happened to me it was because I wasn't on the correct medication It's now Saturday late afternoon in my legs were in severe pain again my nurse at the time his name is Bernie I asked him Bernie am I on lyrica he went to check the nurses station to find out that I was not on lyrica I was on pregabalin So somehow my order was changed so we both went to the nurses station to find out it was actually the pharmacy who switched it over to pregabalin With out consulting with me the patient or the nurse on hand. Bernie immediately called the pharmacy to put in the correct order lyrica So I then waited again about 6 and a 1/2 to 7 hours for my lyrica to come in causing me lots of pain and great discomfort again. It seemed to be a crazy facility and chaotic every night with staff only to find out the staff was screaming in the hallway Lisa Lisa Lisa we're missing a patient did you see her after the confusion of nurses running down the Hall they finally located the patient that was missing who happen to be down the Hall in another Room confused! This place seems to have no oversight clearly in regards to all the mis medical mishaps and Fortunately finding the patient who was not in harm safely still within the facility North wing now I'm not sure how much this is on the regular in this facility but I can tell you in16 days I went for approximately a total of 4 to 5 days of severe pain and discomfort. Proper pain medication with management is essential for an amputated foot which is quite painful for anyone who unfortunately has had the surgery but hopefully Will not come to the Carlton for short term physical therapy. The physical therapist for ot and PT are phenomenal they work with you very closely and do not push you more then your body is capable off unfortunately it's the facility And the 1 particular aid Adleen who are not professional the nurses were fantastic especially Bernie and Jane and many others except for Dr Miller who did not over see or follow up on proper medications on myself and possibly many others who can't speak for themselves because they are elderly here for long term care as well. I will also say Lisa from dietary is the boss and does not follow up with trays to make sure everything is good with your meal or particular special diet with no quality check on trays that arrive some times taking to long to correct the problem or mistakes unfortunately. Personally I had to complain to the state about their blaiten disregard of medication!

My mother is a short-stay rehabilitation patient from another nursing home. Hopefully, they can help her reach her goal within the time aloted by the insurance. We hope her short-stay will be productive and she can go home or go back to the other facility. We wish to personally thank the staff. This whole process is quite intimating for most elderly people. Home is best. Please help us reach this destination.
