I only can share my one week here at this nursing home was not for my recovery. The PT staff was very nice and they were strong for recovery goals. The nurses were very nice, I only had 2 nurses I did not care for.. administrator office ms.Tony was very helpful with me, she kept me calm as I wanted to leave this facility, to go home. This place is not for people like me that have TKR.. With TKR ,you have to be move around for the recovery.. I was only had 3 PT time and the rest to laid in the bed, I can do that at home. As I was trying to leave, the doctor at this facility try for me to stay more days so the insurance can pay more. Please do your research before you or your family have to be placed. Some of these places are here for the insurance money. But, this is my opinion.

DO NOT, bring your loved ones here please. They don’t care about their patients at all. Everytime i visit the nurses are all over the place, the other patients all in the hallway asleep in wheelchairs, and not to mention the place is dull. I feel so bad for the patients who have to put up with these people. This place needs to be shut down, they don’t care about their patients and it shows.

This facility seems disorganized. An incident developed that resulted in an overdose of “10 times” my father’s prescribed dosage, so my father was taken to a hospital. They never called to notify the day of the incident. I found out by chance when calling my father to ask about his lunch and the emergency transport relayed details while they were setting up the gurney. I did get a very vague call asking for self help capabilities and given vague details for why they were calling with no identification given and just saying that they were wanting to know what n order to set up a place for him to stay. Not saying that he was being transported to a hospital or who they work for. This particular call came in prior to me calling to check on his meal. I did correct them and said that he was already at a facility and they quickly wrapped the call. Just saying that they were collecting some info. I called to speak with a social worker on day 1 and was told to call back as they were in a meeting. Called back and the call was picked up and promptly put on hold without any words spoken from their end. Called back and my info was taken as the social worker was busy at the time and I didn’t receive a call back, so I called back again near 5pm and they were already gone. I pressed for a higher authority to get more details on what happened to my father. The gentleman they got to the phone had confirmed 10 times the prescribed dosage was given and apologized for a lack of action taken to inform me. Confirmed that the social workers had all left for home as said he was shocked that this incident played out as it did. Next day was a call from the hospital before this facility managed to call me. The hospital expressed an apology for this situation. Later I received a call from a staff member of Long Beach Healthcare Center who manages their medical staff and was given further apologies for this situation as they understood that the ball was dropped on informing the dementia patient’s immediate family. Fortunately the VA has taken action to relocate to an alternate facility. Other issues here included leaving multi days old food beside their bed and the patient would continue eating from it. Some food exceeded a week and included dairy. Had to inform the staff twice to get corrected. The staff on several occasions would confuse him with another patient and relay incorrect health information and even pressed that the patient did not have dementia, can walk just fine without a walker as well as tell me that he was in the hospital when he was still resting in his bed in his assigned room. The phone staff would place me on hold for 8+ mins without updates until I ultimately disconnected to called back. Often trying to predict what the caller was saying in order to reach what they felt was the goal of the call. Active listening was a genuine problem when calling. Other problems included placing on hold and having 1-2 other staff members greeting the call as though they were answering a new call. Lots of issues with this facility. In closing, I was told that their medical staff was restructured very recently, so I hope that things improve for current and future residents/patients of this facility. It’s been 5 days and I still haven’t heard back from a social worker or my email. I’ve already collected his belongings when the hospital discharged him and transported him to an alternate facility, but I can’t reach them over the phone as it just rings. Hopefully I’ve collected all of his clothing as I’m unsure if he had anything being washed. Some clothes seem missing and his closet there had a few soiled garments which included undergarments.

This is a horrible place to place your loved one. The staff is incompetent and always angry. There is no attentiveness to patience needs and my brother nearly died in there. I'm reporting this facility to the state for lack of skills, filthy, having nurses from the registry working that did not know where any medical equipment was to help my brother breath, and more. It's just horrible pls do not take your loved one or a dog to this place.
