BIRCHWOOD REHABILITATION & HEALTHCARE CENTER

My elderly mother recently spent 20 days at Birchwood. Every staff member we encountered was kind, courteous and professional to both myself and my mother. From the coordination of my moms care, to the day to day “hands on” from all departments (including but not limited to social services, physical-occupational and speech therapy, nursing staff, nurses aides, maintenance, dietary, housekeeping and administration), the overall experience was a highly positive one. The staff managed to give comfort to my mom during a very confusing and frightening time in her health and life journey. And for that, I am truly grateful and blessed! We’d like to give a shout out to just a few (although everyone we encountered rocked!) of the workers who made a positive impact in our lives during moms stay—Candy (moms main nurse), Kat and Renee (nurses aides), Maria (housekeeping), Michal (receptionist) and Ken (speech therapist). Last but certainly not least, a HUGE thank you and shout out to Sharon Nichols-Cullen, Social Services Director for Century Health! Sharon was amazing! She was extremely competent and compassionate to ALL the residents, and addressed every single need that came up during my mom’s stay. She also took time from her very busy schedule to pop in to see my mom regularly and she always managed to put a smile on my moms face! She has a true gift and calling from God! My mother has been a patient at this facility for a couple of weeks following a hospital stay. The food has been great, her nurses/aides have been great and very caring and her physical therapy has been outstanding. I would definitely recommend this facility.

The building is clean and the staff are very friendly. You can tell how much the staff care about this community the second you walk in the doors and residents look well groomed and engaged! The community grounds look well maintained and has seen a lot of improvement and attention. It’s a must see!

My brother recently stayed at Birchwood as a short term resident after being released from the hospital and needing medical care. The staff is amazing!!! They are very kind, helpful and skilled. They made his stay there a pleasant one. The activities director, Carla, goes above and beyond to make the residents feel very welcome. The skilled nurses and physical therapists helped him recover much quicker than he would have on his own. Thank you, Birchwood staff!

Doesn't even deserve one star. If you care about your loved ones, DO NOT take them to Birchwood! My mom was there for a few months for rehab after a back surgery. Physical therapy was a joke. They kept canceling her rides to her doctors appointments and not telling anyone. I would be at the appointment and calling her or she would be calling me and no one had any clue that they just canceled her only transportation. Some of her appointments were 30 MINUTES AWAY. They had no reason for canceling the ride either. Then one day I had to leave to BUY HER DINNER and bring it to her because they wouldn't feed her. She asked THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE about dinner and no one ever came back. The kitchen ended up closing for the night. Also they stole $70 worth of her clothing after taking it to the laundry room and never bringing it back even though I specifically said that I would take her clothes home and wash them for her! I was asking about them for 3 months. They kept saying that they must have misplaced them. Then either find them or pay me the money back! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!
