Staff told my 85 year old grandmother, who is there for rehab after having a stroke, that ‘they weren’t playing her games’ when she asked to be repositioned during the night as she was in pain….say what?! You are here to take care of her - sorry she may need more help than others…THAT IS WHY SHE IS HERE! Very inappropriate and unacceptable.
My sister, Susan seems to have adjusted to her circumstances at OC. Despite being only minimally verbal, she appears to enjoy the fresh fruit snacks I bring her, and welcome my visit. I think that she’s happier at OC than when she was more isolated at home.
It was good. First time I have been in there in years no human waste smell like I have smelled in other nursing homes. Place was clean and the CNA’s were concerned about the privacy of the patients. Which I thought was very important.
I work in these places in the area. We recently had a family member placed here. This is one of the worst places I have ever seen! The payor on the account assures us the cost per month is more than $9,000 a month. That's $300 a day! For what? To be neglected, fed absolute garbage, for staff to be yelling and goofing off at the top of their lungs, to have staff banging on the door just to come in and greet us like a bull in a china shop. The neglect is insane. Between being understaffed and disrespected by management, I guarantee that's why your care workers have no respect for your patients. Everyone is so busy but our family member received nearly no personal care. We had to do it and the staff didn't even notice. I bet the amount of undocumented skin degradation that occurs under your care is through the roof. Human waste eats through the skin and creates deep wounds that get infected. The food is absolutely vile. Seniors should not be eating an open menu that consists completely of quesadillas, hotdogs, cheeseburgers, pizza, grilled cheese. It's absolute garbage! You can't do roast meat, steamed vegetables and potato? How hard is that? You receive all that money and don't do anything for it! Our families get nothing! It's already bad enough we couldn't keep them home any longer. The MedPOA's judgement is clouded by grief and won't act. You need to restructure. Patients first, hourly staff second, salary third, and owners get paid last. Because I'll tell you what, you've taken too much.
I have had experiences with many nursing facilities. Orono Commons is the most helpful and considerate of all the places with which I have been involved. They go out of their way for residents. Keep up the good work!
