My father recently stayed at this home and I can honestly say every single staff member we met was incredibly pleasant, kind, and helpful. It was clear from the start that they truly cared about him. The Dietary Director met with my dad a couple of times to make sure his diet was exactly what he needed, which we really appreciated. We also met several other managers— I think they were all managers along with the administrator—who came into his room during the first couple of days. They asked him a bunch of questions, checked in on how he was doing, and made sure we felt comfortable with everything. It was reassuring and answered so many of the questions we had. Overall, the care and communication were excellent.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. every single team member has been incredible—kind, attentive, and truly committed. The food has been very good, and I appreciated that they always offered several options whenever I needed to make a change for mom. One of the first things I noticed was how clean the building is. It never had that unpleasant smell you sometimes find in other facilities. Even though it’s not the most modern building, it’s bright, welcoming, and has such a positive vibe that the décor doesn’t even matter. Most importantly, my mother is genuinely well cared for. I feel confident that she’s safe, comfortable, and surrounded by people who truly care. This place has been an absolute blessing for our family.
Tried to select that it was less-than-desirable experience and it would not allow me to do so. So this is what I was trying to submit, if anyone even cares: “The food choices are disappointing. My mother is recovering from surgery and needs a significant amount of protein to aide in her recovery. This is the 2nd break in the same leg, she is osteoporotic and needs protein. Dinner of a cheesesteak sandwich, fries and ambrosia is not a balanced meal for her. The nurses and aides are very nice and friendly. They are understaffed to attend to the needs of the patients. Mom has indicated that she often remains on a bedpan for longer than necessary due to unanswered call bells. Not the fault of the staff; there just aren’t enough of them. There are no ice packs? How can a facility that is treating persons s/p surgery not have ice packs as a complementary alternative pain management option? My mother has a difficult time clearing pain medications and it gives her cognitive issues. Ice packs would go a long way in helping her pain but she cannot seem to obtain them. That’s not okay. Again, all the staff has been very nice. But mom is being left in bed too long. I wonder what her bottom looks like. Pressure wounds developing? Combined with limited protein intake? Not a good combination.”
I would tell people to Never Go There!!! They are nice to your face, but are Neglegent in their care. My Brother almost died and would have if I didn't intervene. He was unresponsive with a high fever and low blood pressure because they didn't give him his meds. Said he refused them, but he was unresponsive because of not taking them. Being Drs and Nurses, they should have realized this. Had to call 911. I also do not think the Dr or Nurses checked on his care everyday like they told me they did. He had extra specific needs that had to be taken care of in order to survive. When I was there for hours a day, I didn't see any of this done, but was told they were doing it.
Talk about a hole in one! This place exemplifies everything I’ve hoped and wanted from a nursing home! From the amazing staff to impeccable communication Pennsburg Manor has it all! I recommend this place to everyone.
