THE VILLA AT THE BAY

The siena‘s are very kind and helpful, and sincere when talking with my grandmother and myself. Never have to wait when asking for any kind of help. Her room is neat, clean as well as smells clean. The therapist our tentative to her needs when they work with her. Thank you all for taking good care of my sweet Grandmother while she strengthens her legs and work on balance. Overall not a bad place if would recommend this place for strengthening rehabilitation. I can’t wait to see the her mobility improvement at her next review

I get the impression there is a management problem at this facility. Most employees seemed to be miserable and didn't care. Case in point; i went to get my mother(patient at the facility) a cup of coffee. A worker was filling up several cups before me. I asked if the urn she was using was regular coffee (there were several urns at the station). Her response was,"I don't know. They're not labeled. " So she didn't know what she was serving, nor did she care. This was the general attitude I encountered with my mother's stay there. Breakfast never got served until after 9 a.m. isn't that a violation of state regs regarding the length of time between meals? I ended up taking my mother her breakfast every day. The rooms are small and cramped. The bed was not automatic. It had a crank to lift and lower. The bathroom was extremely small and tight and outdated. Not a good experience at all. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Villa at the Bay needs to do some serious investing of monies in updating their facility and their employees.

Watch out if you have family going here! Their doc had my father found mentally incompetent and 2 days later he was switched to private pay with no notification to family. We only found out he didn't actually need to be there because my wife's family does medical billing! - They'd have sapped him dry of money and then kicked him to the curb after. I can't say much about the physical care he received, I live all the way down on the MI/IN state line and couldn't spend much time with him there but now that he's here with me, he has nothing good to say about the place. It certainly wasn't a genuinely welcoming environment. More like a 'grit your teeth and smile because they have to officially "like" you' sort of welcome... If you have other options, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there are many in the area.

This place does not look like the photos inside, it is dingy and needs repair. The staff is never around, I assume they are understaffed and my mother's needs are going unmet. They are sometimes very unkind to her, and treat her like she is an old senile woman rather than with dignity, care, and respect. I would never recommend this facility to anyone.

My wife’s grandmother was sent here to get strength training to improve her mobility w/out assistance. First impression was a good one as staff was helpful + answered all questions we had, will not give a proper rating until later.
