THE EMERALDS AT ST PAUL LLC

This place is absolutely horrendous. To keep it honest, your family will not be safe nor cared for as a person. They’re left in their own filth for hours, given the wrong meds, not placed comfortably in their beds, left with wounds, things will not be reported if they are at fault, and yes they will lie even though they’re caught on camera. They do not communicate between each other for updates on a loved one. My loved one fell out of his bed onto the ground and no one noticed for 25-30 MIN. We rushed there and they were giggling while getting him off the ground back into bed. The staff (not all, bless the 1-2 that actually care) will literally argue with you AND have reached for my mom’s phone including cornering her in the room. I do hope/pray that if you or a loved one is place here, it goes better. Personally, I wouldn’t trust this place. Please check in on your family if they are there every single day. To keep them loved and safe.

DO NOT trust this care facility with your loved ones. The Emeralds St. Paul did not help my mother, this rehab facility only progressed her illness further, leading to a serious hospital stay and several major surgeries. This rehab facility is unsanitary, outdated, and frankly dangerous. The building itself is falling apart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t pass a health inspection. The staff was kind enough, though I doubt their competency. They were so busy they didn’t have time to care for their patients, and when my mother was critically ill they missed all the signs. It took a close friend visiting her to convince the facility to call an ambulance. They routinely missed or messed up my mother’s medications, and their unsanitary facilities led to her developing a life threatening infection while staying at the Emeralds. I worried for her daily while she was staying in this facility, and it breaks my heart that anyone is currently being treated there.

This place will not keep you safe. Please, please, please...anyone who is looking for a place to either go themselves, or their loved ones, do not go here. I was placed here, but lucky enough to advocate for myself to get placed elsewhere. Upon arrive is was clear management does not care about basic hygiene or sanitation. The dirty laundry piled in corners and the smell of feces was prominent. Overflowing garbage and commodes needed to be changed. The floors had loose tiles; a clear tripping hazard and individuals were wondering aimlessly about. It was dimly lit, and let's be honest, it felt like I was just wheeled into a horror movie. I was wheeled past an open medication cart..which is to state very clearly..a medication cart unlocked, keys in the keyhole, and drawers open. Anyone could take what they wanted. No one stood by. The room I was assigned was a mess. There is having an old building and keeping it updated as best you are able..and then there is this place. It's an old building and management obviously doesn't care. Not only for the patients but obviously not for their employees either. Keeping a person safe and healthy is not the priority here..Please go elsewhere. Update: I am not using my real full name to post this review for confidentiality purposes. A report has already been filed with the state.

I'm putting in an update. SOME of the staff are doing their job. Not sure that they have enough help. Check in on your family members if you can. Therapists have been mostly helpful. Staff could do better about answering call lights, 3 hours, my friend is waiting today. This is disturbing... He had breathing issues at times. I decided to buy an alert one bracelet for my friend. In Case he has an emergency. I also recommend marking items. I had quite a few items gone missing.

This place worries me. I feel my friend may need a sitter. I guess you can get volunteers. Google. People don't always answer the call lights. Sometimes there's quite a while in between. Hours? And my friend has been short of breath. Twice a worker forgot to put a call lite by my friend. He is unable to use his hands at this time. And he also has trouble with speaking. He is vulnerable & ALERT.Please check your family member often. My friend is 72, in a lot of pain😳 This place is short on supplies. I just label pillows and stuff that I give him. It's very stressful and worrisome not to know how they are doing on the ventilator, at time's unable to speak or use his hands or voice. * I had to ask for a CARE conference. It also helps to ask for a manager. This is a new experience for me. I used to be a CNA plus. I guess it's just the way health Care is for our seniors now. This has to change. They matter. We all matter
