Silverado Berkeley Memory Care Community
Silverado Berkeley Memory Care Community
Silverado Berkeley Memory Care Community is a licensed residential care elderly located in Berkeley, California, specializing in memory care services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) provide non-medical care and supervision in a homelike setting for people 60 years and older who are unable to live independently.
Silverado Berkeley Memory Care Community has a licensed capacity of 90 residents. Services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management. RCFEs also provide meals, housekeeping, laundry, social activities, and 24-hour supervision. Many offer specialized care for residents with memory impairment.
Who We Serve: RCFEs serve older adults who need assistance with daily activities but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care. Residents may include those with early to mid-stage dementia, mobility limitations, or chronic health conditions.
Memory Care Services: This facility offers specialized memory care services, including staff trained in dementia care techniques, activity programming designed for cognitive engagement, and appropriate safety measures. When evaluating memory care options, families should consider staff training, staff-to-resident ratios, security features, and the approach to managing behavioral symptoms.
Licensing: RCFEs in California are typically licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
Payment Options: In California, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW). Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Contact California Department of Health Care Services or visit https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/AssistedLivingWaiver.aspx to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.
Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. You can verify this facility's license and view inspection reports at California's facility search. For more information about assisted living regulations in California, visit California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

I am so grateful to have moved my mom into the good hands at Silverado. I recently had an accident/injury and haven't been able to visit her for almost a month, and I have been so worried about not being able to check in on her. I am even more grateful Perla, who is one of the caretakers. Her amazing care and compassion for my mom, and her updates have really helped ease my worries about not getting to visit my mom. I don't know what I would have done/felt without her. Perla has made the effort to send me frequent pictures, updates and videos; and helped my mom Facetime with me. And the other day, she sent me a video of my mom painting her own nails. This is the most engaged I've seen my mom in a long time. My mom remembers Perla's name (although she calls her Pearl instead of Perla) - and I'm not sure she even remembers my name. Knowing my mom has the special love and attention there means more to me than you can imagine. But not just my mom. Even when she's sitting, she is constantly scanning the room and getting up to help someone that might be forgetting their walker or needing to be tended to for one thing or another. It's that kind of care that makes me so happy I made the decision to move her to Silverado. Thank you all for all that you do!
