My great grandfather, Orlin Van Duyne, was an iron worker and made this sign. He lived on Kelly Lane and my grand parents lived on Holmes Street. Their backyards connected. My mother used to sleigh ride down the front lawn in this picture. Great memories!
On behalf of our family we would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the NJ Firemen’s Home for the wonderful care and genuine kindness provided to our Dad each and every day. We are so appreciative and blessed to know that that he is safe, well cared for and content during these difficult times . We know that the attention and care he and all the residents receive contribute to everyone’s wellbeing. We are all aware or all the "extra" safety precautions NJFH has demonstrated during this Pandemic . The teamwork, dedication and patience of the staff is amazing and inspiring, and instills all NJFH friends and families faith & hope. Like the firefighters, despite the chaotic, conflict-filled world we live in we recognize the brave & skilled staff who are willing and able to help others freely with no expectations or aspirations of being acknowledged or recognized for their deeds. We are so fortunate and grateful for all of you caring for our 94 year old father in such a kind and devoted manner.
The staff is great. They take very good care of the men. The men say they like it there. The food could be much better. Need a chef. It's a nice home.
