Sunrise of Columbia

Toured this location for myself, even though I'm very young, everyone was incredibly welcoming and answered all my questions. Even though I had so many, I toured the whole facility and the staff is truly wonderful and has been there many many years and really cares about the people there. It's a wonderful, warm community and all the residents seem to love it there and it has the appropriate care level that I need. I'm very pleased with this place and I would be happy living there

When my husband arrived back to Sunrise after an extended hospital and rehab stay, everyone worked so hard getting him back to walking, eating, self care and dressing. He made great progress even before the official physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy were approved and arrived a few weeks later. Hats off and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have been pleased with the care that my husband has received at Sunrise of Columbia. He is on the memory care floor and the team has done a great job to acclimate him to living there (a rather long and difficult process at times). Now I believe he feels comfortable with the people and the routine there and is doing well.

I'm updating the review I wrote three years ago because of events of the last few days: My mother wound up at the hospital after suffering a heart attack and I was appreciative of the level of communication between Sunrise of Columbia and Howard County General hospital. Then I found out that the Resident Care Director and the Reminiscence Care Coordinator visited my mother in the hospital and spoke extensively to their care coordinators there. Apparently, it's common for them to visit their residents who have to spend time in the hospital, but it's such an extra mile to go; what an impressive display of compassion. Thank you, Mary and Finda.❤️ Original post: I am thrilled beyond words that my mother is a resident of Reminiscence Care at Sunrise of Columbia. The care and compassion that she receives from every staff member involved in her care, and from the staff manning the front desk, the housekeeping staff, the nurses, and probably other people I haven't met, is beyond my expectations. John, Mary, Shelley, Finda, Fabienne, Neena, Tamara, Kathy, Melodie, Glenda - these are just a few of the people who've touched my mother and who've allowed me to feel much less stress than I could've imagined. Add in the daily activities, the homey, comfortable setting, the attention to details both inside and outside the building, and what my mother calls "great food," and you have a winner.

Sunrise of Columbia is a great community right in the heart of Howard County. John Crow took me on a tour of the community and I was so impressed with how homey it felt as well as how professional and caring the staff are with the residents. Their nursing team is very responsive and they also have wonderful activities to engage their residents. Highly recommend for anyone looking to transition into senior living!
