Grand Living at Tamaya

This review is long overdue. A couple years ago, my father stayed at the Monarch memory care unit. Of all the places that he stayed at, Grand Living at Tamaya stood out. Director Harriet Johnson and her staff worked extremely hard to make Dad comfortable and to work with his aggressive behavior from his dementia. It was the first time in months that my husband and I were able to get a good night’s sleep, because even after we moved him from home to another facility (before and even after Tamaya), they called us at all hours to come calm him, but not Harriet and her staff! They knew how to handle him extremely well, and rarely called us for help. (For those of you who do not know what it is like to have a loved one with dementia, my husband and I tried to have Dad live at home for a couple months, but Dad was too much for us to handle, even with daily help. Dad wanted endless attention and always wanted me next to him, he would wake us at all hours, and he would interrupt my work meetings constantly, as I worked from home.) Harriet Johnson is amazing and I admire her greatly for her tenacity in trying to work with all the healthcare doctors and nurses to ensure Dad was as happy as possible in his deteriorating condition. Tamaya kept him the longest out of all the facilities Dad lived at. (If my father’s condition had not gotten so bad, we would have kept him there until he passed, but we unfortunately had to move him later on.) Harriet also ensures there is a plethora of activities for the residents to keep them engaged without boredom, and included many outings. With regard to the facility, Dad’s little apartment was almost like a large studio apartment with a kitchenette with sink and mini-fridge (but no cooking), and there was room for a small sofa, instead of just a bedroom. So, Dad could have his own favorite snacks and other items he enjoyed, and we created a small entertainment center for him to watch his favorite movies and TV programs, and we could visit comfortably with this little living room area. His window overlooked the entrance so he could people watch. Monarch was by far the best out of all the places Dad lived at, thanks to Harriet and her staff!

This community is truly remarkable. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine smiles from the staff. The residents are genuinely happy and engaged, whether it’s participating in activities or enjoying delicious meals. If you’re looking for a place where your loved on will be treated like family and truly enjoy life, Grand Living at Tamaya is a perfect choice.

From the moment you step into Grand Living @ Tamaya, you’re greeted by a facility that is nothing short of stunning. The environment is elegant and thoughtfully designed, creating a true sense of home and comfort. Samantha Vassel l ,The new Director of Health and Wellness is also a wonderful addition to the team. They bring a calm, reassuring presence that puts residents and families alike at ease. Their peaceful spirit and attentive care make a noticeable difference in daily life here.

The Grand Living at Tamaya experience was absolutely incredible. The building is super gorgeous and clean, I was very impressed. The staff was amazing one in particular was the Director of Health and Wellness Mrs. Samantha Vassel. Mrs Vassel was very understanding, helpful and accommodating. She took the time to answer all questions without getting annoyed. After my visit I will definitely consider placing my mother here where everyone is family and will treat her like family….all smiles!!

A beautifully designed and well-established community that truly feels like home. The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and show genuine empathy in all they do. The meals are consistently delicious, with three unique dining venues offering variety and choice. Each day is thoughtfully planned with engaging programs and activities that keep residents active, social, and fulfilled. A truly exceptional place.
