Who We Serve: Assisted Living Facilities serve older adults and people with disabilities who need help with daily activities but do not require the 24-hour skilled nursing care provided in nursing homes.

Payment Options: In Missouri, Medicaid may help pay for assisted living through the Aged and Disabled Waiver. Eligibility is based on both financial and functional criteria. Contact Missouri Department of Social Services or visit https://dss.mo.gov/mhd/ to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply. Wait lists are common for waiver programs, so applying early is recommended.
Families researching assisted living options should verify the facility's current license status, review any inspection reports, and schedule a visit to assess whether the environment and services meet their loved one's needs. Knowingly accepted over payments. Charged cleaning fee after moving out though the place was left cleaner than its original condition. Make sure you report wear and tear immediately. Had a cabinet door fall off as I opened it first year I moved in never reported it because you can clearly see it was not due to inflicted damage and was charged 75.00 for it. Property manager will try to get you for what he can. Take pictures and report any damage so they can fix it and not deduct from your security deposit.
I've stayed at Rock Hill Manor for several months now, it's great place friendly staff and residents. Also located great neighborhood with public transportation for those who have the ability to get around on there own. It's continuing to impact my life and open me up to new resources in down town Kansas City. I Highly recommend it for several walks of life, although it may take some time everything situated the friendly staff is here to help every step of the way.
They have several beds dedicated for people who come out of Truman Behavioral Health. They do not work with Swope, Rediscover, Research Hospital, Compass, Comprehensive, etc. Truman had arranged for a bed with them. I was told that Wanda would call me but when I had not heard from her by the next day, I went to Truman to get more info. I spoke to Wanda who is the head person in charge for those beds on the phone with two staff members from Truman behavioral health listening in on behalf of a loved one on a late Friday afternoon. She told me that I could come visit on that Saturday or Monday and she needed a copy of my guardianship documentation since Truman had not given her a copy apparently. I mentioned that I had not yet told my client (because I had just found out the day before that a bed had come available for her), and Wanda said in a condescending tone "She didn't tell her yet?" I replied directly back to her that "NO because my client struggles with change and the more information I have the better I can prepare her." I had not received any information other than the name of the place and that the bed would be available on Tuesday. After the call ended, the Truman ladies commented to me how rude Wanda was and they apologized for her. I then left a voicemail message for Wanda saying that I heard her on the speakerphone and that if she had anything else she was concerned about, she could contact me and I would get her info. I asked that she provide the same professional courtesy she has already received from me. I went and toured the place on Saturday and had my client in the car. A nice lady, who was also black, has worked there for years and was very kind and gave me a tour. She came out to meet my client who said hi. Sunday then Monday came and went. I went in on Tuesday morning to bring my document and find out what time to bring her and I was met by a white woman who said "We gave the bed to someone else and go talk to Truman." I was not happy about it. When I spoke to Truman, they told me that Wanda had not called to tell them they gave her bed away. So this means that after, I received oral commitments from Truman's case managers and Wanda at Rockhill Manor, she apparently changed her mind at some point on Sunday or Monday without the common courtesy or professionalism to let someone know. I'm sure I'm not the first person to experience this. Truman was not able to do anything and they kept calling her to see if a bed would become available and Wanda wouldn't even reply or when she did she said there was none. This was after promising us one. At the end of the day, I feel that the reason she said NO is because I sound white on the phone and she didn't know my client was black until they saw her. The receipts I bring is what I observed as the only black people at the place were workers. And the residents, who were sitting in the 'hotel lobby' area, were white. The residents in the smoking area were white, too. The residents outside smoking were white. And I saw quite a few residents. So they are in the urban core of Kansas City, MO yet do not represent the population of the community it serves. So no, Wanda who is black is trained to not admit black residents apparently. Also, I noticed that all of the people in the lobby were sitting around and they were eerily quiet. Not one resident was talking to another and the streets say that they medicate the personality out of people. God doesn't waste anything and while I desperately needed to find a place for my loved one, I found that Rockhill Manor would have turned her into a zombie instead of rehabilitating her to live a mindfully healthy life. Don't commit beds and then not follow through; oral contracts mean something, too. Lastly, professional courtesy is not difficult and compassion and kindness go a long way.
Rockhill Manor from its the administration, staff to the clients all have been brought here I believe by divine intervention. Especially during Covid-19 during the lock down to have both physical and psychiatric care on site. X-rays, labs, all forms of physical and psychological therapies where brought to us. We have daily classes to exercise both mind, body and learn new crafts and skills. We have input on what we want to eat if you choose to participate in those meetings. You truly can complain and it will be heard not swept under the rug. We never missed a day off any of our medications needed especially psychotropics that where and are needed during this very trying time in our nation and the world. I truly feel blessed and grateful for every client and administrator and staff it takes everyone to make our Community at home. I believe we will comfortably and safely make it though this fall and winter. I sure maybe there been a mistake or two but we are human and there one guarantee about being human. That is we are fallible. So when I see complaints about nature doing what nature does when people don’t fallow rules. Sneak clothes in and blame a all of Rockhill Manor for a mistake most likely made by them discounting all the gifts they should be grateful for I mentioned above I felt I should speak out. Sometimes people are not ready for all the gifts provided here usually with unconditional love behind it. I look at clients, staff and administration as family that’s how kind and loving everyone has been to me over the past 3 years. Have a blessed day!
Rockhill Manor is one of the accounts that I call on for my job and I can tell you that this place is amazing. From Wanda the Director of Nursing to Jennie, Lucy, and Tasha on the clinical team you just can’t get much better. This is the best psychiatric facility I have ever been in. Well done Rockhill Manor, well done!
