My 89 year old mother recently moved in and so far, its great and she is thriving! When I arrived for a tour and was waiting I was pointed to the coffee/espresso/cappuccino machine in the lobby and told to help myself. I never got a chance because the residents kept coming to use this. Each with a smile on their face. I wasn't going to try get before one of them. This level of active resident was just what my mom was going to need. The management staff and the rest of the staff are wonderful. Everyone seems to know all the residents and there are always smiles exchanged. There are higher end assisted living facilities in the Bay Area but in its price range, Cadence was far and above all else I looked at in terms of bright and sunny, well kept, well staffed. At higher end facilities there may be trips to museums and shows in San Francisco vs. shopping and parks--but those facilities probably also have different populations. The Cadence seems just right for their residents. Thanks to Bari, Amy, Natalie, and the rest of the staff. Thanks for making my mom's first few weeks so wonderful.
December 2021, Bari gave us a tour of Cadence Millbrae and helped us secure a junior bedroom unit. She and Kiel were great in helping us move in Mom. The maintenance director Allen and his staff are very responsive in getting things done in personalizing the unit. Housekeeping Supervisor Rhonda is very attentive in taking care of the laundry services. Mom says all the caregivers are very nice. The caregivers and med techs are very friendly to Mom, polite and checking in on her. There are many activities scheduled for the residents and the food is tasty. The remodeled facility is modern, bright, and cheery especially with the very recent additions of artwork in the corridors. It is difficult to move one’s loved one out of their home, but the Cadence staff has helped Mom ease into an assisted living situation.
Well maintained and beautiful building. My mom moved in and adapted to her new stage of life right after few days. Staff are friendly, helpful and caring. Dining hall is beautiful and there are many variety of foods for residents to choose from. There are many activities during the day such as table games, painting, bible study ,exercise, Tai chi and majong. My mom speaks Chinese only but she can still get around and socialize with her friends. She has a good time. Bari who gave us the tour is informative and patient. She showed us different kind of rooms with different pricing. Based on my mom’s preference, she suggested that we should choose a room that my mom would feel homy and comfortable, instead of making a decision based on square footage or prices. She was right. My mom enjoyed her studio very much. The room is blessed with warm sunlight and breezy air. The maple trees outside of her windows shaded her room with peace and tranquility. This is how lovely Cadence for us.
In our search for an assisted living community, Cadence Living felt like home. It is clean, well managed and has very caring staff. Kiel, Bari and Kacie met with us many times answering all our questions and guided us through the process of moving my mom into an apartment. They also gathered the staff together to go over my mothers care plan. We greatly appreciate their dedication and attention to my mother’s needs. My mom is enjoying making new friends, eating freshly made meals, and enjoying activities especially the music therapy!
My dearest mother in law moved in to cadence back in 2018. She finally succumbed to old age and peacefully passed 9/1/24. She made many friends and loved her home. Cadence was in the mist of remodeling pre and post Covid. Cadence has a good program to keep the residents busy .After 6 years, cadence continue to see an increase interest from families bringing their parents into cadence. They have a referral program that is excellent. There was an episode that an employee was entering my mother in law apartment. He was caught coming into the apartment unplugging the WiFi. It was caught on security cameras that my daughter installed . He was terminated immediately by the executive director (ED) after the employee lied that he never entered the apartment and unplugged the WiFi. I recommend putting a security camera in the room. I did much research and cadence had the best service and price point. I recommend cadence . Please ask the executive director if the staff received training about entering the apartments without permission. Ask if security cameras will be added to each floor? Even with suspicious activity from this one employee and the price point is much higher, I still recommend cadence.
