Keystone Place at Forevergreen

My mom moved from her home in Iowa City to Keystone Place at Forevergreen in 2017. She has been fortunate to call Keystone “home” for nearly 8 years. As her daughter living 2 hours away I have referred to the Keystone senior living community as my “saving grace”…the place and especially the people. The Keystone staff went above and beyond on numerous occasions to keep Mom living and thriving as independently as possible. Their concern was consistently for her satisfaction and her safety. The activities including exercise class, movies, BINGO, crafts and holiday celebrations were of special interest to her. Since Mom no longer cooked the dining room was a big part of her daily routine, and she enjoyed being able to have visiting family and friends join her for meals. Recently the decision was made to transition to assisted living so this prompted moving Mom closer to family. However, no place will ever replace her Keystone Family and the exceptional care she received and the friendships made. They have truly been a blessing! ♥️

We were going to move our Dad, who is a Korean war veteran, in today but yesterday they dropped the bombshell that he couldn't use the VA for his medications. Would cost him 100's of dollars more each month to go through their "preferred" pharmacy. They obviously aren't interested in having veterans there. Pretty disgusting.

The passing of my father ends a very special relationship that I, and the entire family, had with the residents and staff of Keystone at Forevergreen. We feel very blessed that my mother and father enjoyed eight years within this warm and welcoming community. They lived very happily together in their independent living apartment and Dad made a very easy and comfortable transition to assisted living when Mom passed. The social interaction added vibrancy to their spirit and years to their life. Keystone provides a fun and engaging environment for their residents and the staff relationships are like those of a loving family. Mom and Dad were treated exceptionally well, provided meaningful input to guide the dining and social programs, and were given extraordinary care in the final days of their lives.

We visited our mother/mother-in-law for the first time since she moved to Keystone. The facility, her apartment, the cordiality of the staff, the comfortableness everywhere, and the food service and food itself, were all unbelievably excellent. We noticed the appropriately rural "Iowan" subjects of the beautiful paintings up and down the hallways--our favorite!...having grown up in rural Iowa... The available amenities--including snack bar (which we indulged in that evening), the exercise and game rooms, the multiple public restrooms conveniently located, the outdoor "sports" activities for residents and their guests, even a LIBRARY on third floor, plus a prepared schedule of daily bus trips to a variety of nearby stores and places of interest--the planners of Keystone senior living did not seem to leave ANYTHING out! One special comment: We were grateful for the totally healthy, tasty food that was available for our supper with our mother, and her food ticket provided for all three of us visitors--her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson!...served by three of the kindest, most cordial and accommodating young people you could ask for. You all deserve our compliments!

Thank you for the terrific "Day Clock" Christmas gift! It was exactly what I need to remember day and date. I love my new home at Keystone. You and all the staff have been welcoming, caring and thoughtful. You must be proud to be surrounded by such competent and caring individuals.
