SUFFIELD BY THE RIVER

My MIL moved in 6 weeks ago and is thriving!!! She had lived by herself in a condo with very nice neighbors-but this is so much better!!! Mom gets socialization every single day. She has become involved in the choir, Wii bowling, Rumikub tournaments, movie nights, flower arranging and even the exercise classes. Her cognitive abilities are the best we’ve seen in at least 9 months! And the best part, I can sleep at night knowing she is safe and happy! Great, attentive staff really makes Mom feel at home and she doesn’t have to wait for help!

I recently visited Suffield by the River and was so impressed by everything this community has to offer. The setting along the Connecticut River is absolutely stunning—the views alone make the atmosphere feel calm, peaceful, and uplifting. While I was there, I saw residents gathered around the piano, playing and singing together, which was such a heartwarming moment that really showcased the strong sense of community here. I also had the opportunity to try the dining experience and was blown away by the quality. The steak frites I enjoyed were delicious—beautifully prepared and truly restaurant-quality. The dining room itself had a lively, social energy that made the whole experience feel elevated and enjoyable. On top of all this, I was especially impressed with the Executive Director, Jim. He took the time to answer questions about the admission and move-in process with such attention to detail, making everything clear and approachable. His professionalism and care for both residents and families truly stood out. Suffield by the River is a remarkable community that balances beautiful surroundings, exceptional dining, and a genuine commitment to resident well-being. I would highly recommend a visit.

This assisted living has exceeded every expectation. The staff is kind, responsive, and treats residents like family. Jim, the Executive Director goes above and beyond for his families. The community as a whole feels organized and resident focused. Jim’s approach is refreshing. You can tell he truly cares about the people who live and work here. I reccomend visiting this community!

Suffield by the River has been a perfect place for my mother. My family moved her up here from New Jersey where she has lived her entire life. She is shy and we were nervous about the move. She has settled in and is quite happy. Whenever people ask her if she likes it she always says, "yes, I have a nice apartment and everyone is so nice to me." The entire staff is friendly. There are numerous activities every day and at least once a month they have a special event where the executive staff participates. They will dress up for the themed occasion, help serve food and bring in live music. The staff goes out of their way to make the residents feel special. The aids and nurses treat my mother with warmth and provide the care that she needs. The facility is clean, nice and small enough to give you a family feel. It has been a perfect placement for my 94 year old mother.

I'm a musician who performs often at Suffield by the River which is one of my favorite places to perform. Each time I enter their facility I feel at home with the residents and staff. Working with Nancy Crommett, the Resident Engagement Director, is wonderful. Every interaction with her is friendly and professional. Nancy is a joy to work with, and I always look forward to our next performance.
