If I could give them 0 stars I would. Do NOT send your loved ones to the Memory Care Unit. They do not take care of the residents. In the 9 months my mother was there she fell multiple times requiring multiple trips to the hospital. One of the falls was actually caused by another resident pushing her which the facility had no idea happened until I asked them to look at the tapes to see how she fell. Then her final fall was so bad she ended up with stitches went back to the facility and despite me telling the staff that she needed to be watched she wasn’t and fell again the following day. The staff did not recognize that my mother was having neurological changes until I brought it to their attention even though another residents family member noticed. Once I told the staff my observations and insisted they call the doctor (who is also useless) they sent her to the hospital and she had a brain bleed. She is now on hospice care. While visiting my mother I observed the lack of caring and compassion. Staff sit on their phones with headphones in all day long not paying attention to the residents. I addressed the lack of care multiple times with the head nurse Michelle and nothing was ever done. They allowed residents to walk the halls with shirts on as pants covered in feces, they tell you your family member ate well then you find the food hidden under them in the wheelchair. They tell you there are lots of activities but there aren’t and the activity staff have little to no motivation to engage with the residents. Very sad that you pay all that money and your family member gets treated like that.
My mom has been at The Bristal of Wayne for almost 5 years. The Bristal has become a family for both my mom and for myself. It has been a wonderful choice that I made for my mom in 2020. My mom has Dementia and the Reflection (memory care) has provided a remarkable atmosphere for my mom as well as the other residents there. I love that there is always someone at the front desk 24-7. Any concerns I have are take care of immediately. The nurses Nicole, Michelle and the wellness staff have always been there for my mom which gives me a peace of mind. Everyone of my mother’s aide is compassionate and caring. They treat my mom like she is their own mom giving her individual attention, including Anna, Renee, Isatu, Josephine and the rest who Reflection1 staff. The Bristal has wonderful activities for the residents. Bea, the activity director arranges activities personalized around the residents that are living there. The facility itself is gorgeous. It is decorated beautifully and is always clean. From the housekeeping staff, maintenance staff Jonathan and Lamant to the administration, everyone is there to help out anyway that they possible can. I am forever grateful that I made the right choice by putting my mom into The Bristal. They continue to show much care, compassion and respect for not just my mother but for me as well.
The Bristal at Wayne proved to be an excellent choice that our family made by placing our Aunt there. The staff is caring, helpful and patient, on the whole. They were willing to make accommodations to make my Aunt as comfortable as possible. There are many activities that residents can participate in. The facility itself is lovely, looking more like a hotel than an Assisted living facility. I would highly recommend the Bristal.
A shout out to Jesse Juxon-Smith and to the Bristal staff. My Mother lived at The Bristal in Wayne almost 3 years before she passed in August of this year. I can’t say enough good things about the way they took care of my Mom and the confidence I had when saying good bye knowing I was leaving her in caring hands. The staff there was the best and very professional. Living out of State it meant the world to me knowing how caring and responsive they were. Trusting your loved ones to someone else is very hard. I am thankful she spent her last few years, happy and content. Thank you so much! I would tell anyone I highly recommend anyone considering placement for their family members, to consider The Bristal. Linda-Mom was Lillian
Bristal in Wayne NJ is totally overrated. especially the food service although not the dinig room service...just the kitchen. Much of the cooked food is served too cold or overcooked so is difficult to eat. Having a meal sent to your apartment is a disaster and is always missing something from the order. The dessert EVERY night is bought not baked cake and tastes like it was baked last week. 2 days this week it took over 2 hours from the order by phone to be delivered to my apartment and the order was missing items incliuding plastic ware so there were no utensils or coffee with breakfast. There are some plusses but by comparison with elsewhere, Brystal is far from the top. I have had experience elsewhere and even in a local rehab and never had to deal with such inflated reviews. Be wary!!!
