Wexford County Council on Aging
Wexford County Council on Aging
Wexford County Council on Aging is a homecare agency serving Cadillac, Michigan and surrounding areas. Homecare agencies provide non-medical personal care services that allow individuals to remain safely in their homes while receiving assistance with daily activities.
Services provided by homecare agencies typically include personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and respite care for family caregivers.
Michigan does not require state licensure for non-medical homecare agencies, though agencies are generally expected to comply with local business licensing requirements and employment laws. Families should verify that caregivers have appropriate background checks and that the agency carries liability insurance.
Payment Options: In Michigan, Medicaid may help pay for homecare services through programs like MI Choice Waiver. These Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers help eligible individuals receive care at home instead of in an institutional setting. Contact Michigan Department of Health and Human Services or visit https://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/assistance-programs/medicaid/long-term-care to learn about eligibility and how to apply.
When selecting a homecare agency, consider factors such as caregiver screening procedures, training requirements, supervision practices, and the agency's responsiveness to client needs and concerns. Visit Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs for more information about homecare services in Michigan.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

This place is incredibly unprofessional. Please learn how to do your job and remember that helping the public is part of it. Calling someone “rude” after showing frustration about doing your own job is completely unacceptable. 10/30
I'm so glad my hometown has this resource for seniors! Everyone I've dealt with has been amazing! Kim went above & beyond!
This place is awesome for seniors. A super way for information. They have many things available and especially helpful in late fall when figuring the next year's Medicare choices. Project Fresh for Seniors is available for sign up
Kim Swanberg and the rest of the folks at the Council on Aging are great people. They are there for my husband and I every time we need help with Medicare, taxes, and a load of other things. If you or someone you know is struggling with old age I need help navigating the system give these folks a call!
This is a service for seniors that need assistance at home. Respite care, hair and nails in your home or at the council building. Day care, activities and other services available. All services based on your income and ability to pay. Very reasonable.
