Firstlight Home Care of Oklahoma City
Firstlight Home Care of Oklahoma City
Firstlight Home Care of Oklahoma City is a homecare agency serving Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. Homecare agencies provide non-medical personal care services that allow individuals to remain safely in their homes while receiving assistance with daily activities.
Services provided by homecare agencies typically include personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and respite care for family caregivers.
Oklahoma does not require state licensure for non-medical homecare agencies, though agencies are generally expected to comply with local business licensing requirements and employment laws. Families should verify that caregivers have appropriate background checks and that the agency carries liability insurance.
Payment Options: In Oklahoma, Medicaid may help pay for homecare services through programs like ADvantage Waiver. These Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers help eligible individuals receive care at home instead of in an institutional setting. Contact Oklahoma Health Care Authority or visit https://oklahoma.gov/ohca.html to learn about eligibility and how to apply.
When selecting a homecare agency, consider factors such as caregiver screening procedures, training requirements, supervision practices, and the agency's responsiveness to client needs and concerns. Visit Oklahoma State Department of Health for more information about homecare services in Oklahoma.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

Our experience with the first several initial caregivers First Light sent out was a very rough experience. It's a lot like dating except you have to pay for each of the not great matches. It took us a while before we finally met Shirley Little. She is compassionate, knowledgable and attentive in her care for my dad and both my parents feel at ease trusting her to come into their home. She has been working with us for 1 year this September. I'm very grateful for her dedication, there's a lot of not so caring caregivers. Shirley is certainly one of the good one's that helps restores your faith in humanity during a time of vulnerability and hardship.
BEWARE of this company. I was only with them one month before I found out about the underhanded things that they do. First of all, they will go behind your back and try to order your love one a hospital bed whether you want one or not. They actually called my doctor and hospice nurse trying to get them to sign off on one. Extra money in their pocket, I presume. Certainly not always in the best interest of the client. I want my husband in our bed so I can be near him and he's comfortable. Second thing, even though you might ask that they not send a certain aide out, if they get upset with you, they'll do it anyway. Last and most importantly, they will take a picture of your loved one without your permission and post it on a wall in their office for everyone to look at. They have no problem lying to you about the availability of the aides you ask for. And no problem calling Adult Protective Services on you. Please be careful, I truly believe that they have paid someone for their high ratings or they just didn't know how this company truly works behind their back. The only reason I gave them a 2 instead of a 1 is because some of their CNAs are very good.
Kellie is a servant at heart who is willing to do anything to help. She is cheerful and postive and brings her "A Game" everyday, Terry loves her as she laughs at his jokes. WE enjoy her smile and genuine care for each of us.
I have had several caregivers. Clover Fields is always happy and cheerful every time she comes. Clover goes above and beyond to make sure I am safe and helps my wife so much with the outdoor and inside cleaning. She has been a great addition with help.
The service my grandfather has received has been inconsistent and planning nonexistent. The office would talk a big game of consistency and transparency but then the schedule would change with no warning, and they tried to order a hospital bed without our knowledge or consent, and when they were confronted about it, became petty and tried to remove service completely. When forced to continue the service for the agreed upon time they then remove favored aids. They promised the world but would get aggressive when you confront them on their short comings.
