Wilson Homecare

We have our father receiving home visits 3 times a week for the past year. The nurse he really likes has called out so many times and has come to the house smelling of marijuana. We have reported her, but now they say she is the only one available. We have no idea why there has been no investigation and no alternate nurses. Update: Employee has been told not to smoke marijuana while at work. And to show proof of medical marijuana card.

We had services with them in 2022. It's taken me awhile to get around to doing this review because every time I think of this company, it leaves a bad feeling with me. Initially they sounded great on the phone and in the assessment, so friendly, etc. And then when we actually started services, the caretakers were horrible. They kept sending us "emergency floaters" who didn't care about the client/patient. One spent the whole time watching tv even though my mom said she didn't want to watch tv. Another left early without us dismissing her. When I brought it up to the scheduler, he said basically oh that's how it is, you get some good ones and some bad ones, usually the good ones are taken. It boggles my mind why I would still have to pay for the full hours of service when the person didn't even stay, I'm not even addressing the part that they didn't do anything. And I think there were 4 schedulers that I spoke with. Each time I told them to make sure to update the notes in our files and that we are flexible to scheduling so we can find someone good/ long-term. Each time they called me, I had to repeat the story because either no one updated the notes or no one read it if it was updated. And unfortunately as a client, after they sign you up, there's no department or manager to send complaints to or to resolve issues. The only thing to do is to find another company, which we happily did!

Our Mom has been well cared for by Wilson Homecare for 10 years. She initiated the service herself when she was capable but could no longer drive. Over the years her children have become her intermediaries with Wilson and we have had desirable results. Mom has had 3 regular caregivers and all have been professional and great companions for Mom. Each has had the ability to be a friend to her and maintain the professional standards needed, which is exceptional. We have also needed fill-in help over the years and the schedulers at Wilson have most often been able to place a compatible caregiver. Wilson Homecare has made it possible for Mom to age in her own home which was her goal. We highly recommend our friends at Wilson. Mahalo to each of you!

After reading some negative reviews - I suppose YMMV. However our experience has been pleasant so far. We've have been with Wilson for about a year. We have the aide come by only once a week to visit my mom - so we are at the minimum level of care visits. Because of this we had a lot of different aides rotate in and out in the beginning. However, recently we got one that has been steady for awhile and seems to be working out very well. As with any people contact business, you really have to find the right 'fit' of personalities. In our case it's going well so far (of course until we get some one else). Overall the service has been good - and no big issues - just a few tweaks here and there concerning what the aide is to do or not do. We went with Wilson because they have been around for a long time - and as an organization, they monitor their aides regularly, are very prompt in replying or contacting us for any reason. This is an amazing in-home care and nurse aid agency. The nurses on their staff are amazing, and the care home in Kailua is beautiful!
