Hospice of the Valley
Hospice of the Valley
Hospice of the Valley is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Decatur, Alabama and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.
Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

Hospice of the Valley took very good care of my grandmother! Everyone from the nurses to the aides were wonderful with her and the family. I work in long term care, and with many different hospice companies, but when it was time to rely on a hospice to care for my loved one, there was only one choice! Hospice of the Valley will always have a special place in my heart!
Horrible experience!!!!! Overmedicated my loved one without family’s knowledge. Social worker (new one and old one) never returned my phone call. Don’t even know if they have a chaplain. because never offered that service. Had to provide own toiletries that I didn’t know until now are provided by other hospice companies. Thankfully I found out in time to get my mom off those narcotics and back to where she can talk with her loved ones, get out of bed , and eat and drink. Research hospice companies carefully and ask a lot of questions.
My father and my mother were both cared for by Hospice of the Valley. And now my husband. Without exception the staff has been wonderful and has met all of his needs. Our current nurse feels like family.
Hospice of the Valley is home to incredibly kind and caring workers. I am eternally grateful for their assistance when my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer. I definitely recommend Hospice of the Valley over any other hospice.
There are not enough stars or thank yous to convey our most sincere appreciation to our hospice nurse, Karina, and all the staff at Hospice of the Valley. Hospice of the Valley allowed me to fulfill the wishes of my dear mother to be at home in her last days. Not only that but they took care of ALL details - the ones that nobody wants to be dealing with during a time of grief. I am so grateful. And Karina, bless her, she helped us navigate through the most difficult times with a balance of compassion and professionalism. Oh, I am so thankful for her and the other nurses that attended to Mum's care. And Stephanie deserves a thousand hugs for most tenderly caring for Mum's hygiene needs. The whole team gave us hope and skill. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
