Medcore Preferred Hospice
Medcore Preferred Hospice
Medcore Preferred Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Houston, Texas and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.
Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

Reviews
First, I need to apologize for waiting 2 1/2 months before writing this review...I was my Mom's primary care giver and we had lived together for 18 1/2 years so I just went down after her passing. I can hardly state the gratitude I have for the Medcore staff, especially Geraldine and Thirty, that supported my Mom and myself throughout the last weeks before she passed. The R.N. in charge of her care, Thirty, was knowledgeable, professional, and an angel from heaven; he was very caring and kind and did everything he could to get my Mom what she needed. My mother and I, both, felt safe in his care. His care both before and after my Mom left us will never be forgotten and he may never know how much he helped me with his care and compassion. God Bless Thirty and Medcore for sending him to us. Thank you!
My experience was amazing. They went above and beyond for my mother who was on hospice the past eight months. I would recommend them to anyone if you are dealing with a loved one who is at the end of life. These people lead with compassion and truly care and are passionate about their work. I could not have gotten through this without them. These people were absolutely angels. Thank you for taking such good care of my mom and helping me throughout this difficult process.
Mr. Patrick Dixon, Thank you so very much for our Aide JoAnn Brown and Nurse Andrea Walker. It is so important for us to have such a good relationship and rapport with these ladies who are always so compassionate and uplifting and bring such joy to my wife. We appreciate the comfort, peace, and joy these Ladies bring to my wife at this time and journey. God Bless🙏🏻. I believe the whole process should’ve been explained a little clear from the beginning. As my wife was ending her journey there definitely was not enough time, Coordination between all parties or attention available.
I wanted to thank medcore so much for providing so much compassion and care during such a difficult time. Derrien Care-Dixon, went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and truly cared for what was best for my Dad. Thirty Lacy is truly one of the gentlest and kindest people I have ever met, he was so great with my Dad and gave support to the family. He let us know what was happening and was there in minutes if we needed him. Linda, our sweet CNA, I don’t know what I would do without the strength and respect she showed to my Dad, truly amazing. Maggie, the social worker, provided a listening ear for my mom and hands to help lift my Dad. I know my Dad was in amazing care with this team of angels. Lastly, but not least Francis the night nurse and the one who guided us through my Dad’s final moments, was comforting not only with keeping my Dad pain free, but also gently letting us know when it was time. I can’t thank you all enough. I would highly recommend Medcore if you find your loved one in need of hospice care.
Took care of loved one. BUT... WORST THING - wasn't called that loved one had died. Medcore nurse(?) at bedside before found out by chance of death. Who should make the call of death to family? Medcore? Or hospital, nursing home, etc? Didn't keep me updated. Didn't text after visit as requested several times. Not even a two minute call. Didn't alert me to prescription changes most of the time. Didn't know who had visited as couldn't read signatures/initials or knew abbreviations. Left in dark much of the time.
