Last October my mother was assigned to this facility after repeated falls. I soon found out I was the executor of her will, so Miranda reached out to me to sign papers so she could be admitted. I flew from AZ to MO, rented a car and headed to Bulter to do this and see my mother. Miranda seemed nice and helpful when I arrived and had a stack of papers for me to sign. Not being familiar with anything of this nature my first question was if I would be responsible for ANY financial issues that may arise. That was my FIRST question. I told her I wouldn't sign anything holding me responsible for my mother's bills. She told me that her insurance would cover it all, and if there were any problems with her insurance company, they had other means to correct it and I would NOT be financially responsible for anything. So I signed away, being very tired and trusting this person. Bad mistake. After my mother passed two weeks later they began harassing me for 966 dollars. (apparently what her insurance decided not to pay) This was exactly what I asked her about weeks earlier. They straight up lied to my face and led me to believe this would not happen. I was also stuck with dealing with my mom's house that needed repairs before anything could be done along with all the crap in there. I was into all this for thousands with plane trips and all sorts of random fees for stuff. DO NOT TRUST this place. They will lie to your face and tell you what you need to hear to get you to sign. I had my phone recording when I visited with my mom and I'm debating about hiring an attorney at this point due to the nefarious business practices they engage in. I can't urge folks enough to avoid this place.
My husband was there for a very short time. We knew with his cancer, he didn't have much time. The staff was absolutely amazing. Hospice kept us informed with every move. Those kids went above and beyond what they were supposed to do. Thank you to all the staff.
The showers look like something from a third world country. Way understaffed. Was not supposed to get out of bed without help from staff, several times I had to struggle to get out bed by myself. Too many times I had to have my wife do extra laundry because of not able to get out of bed before I had an accident. The facility does not allow smoking on the campus, however when help would finally arrive, the smell of cigarette smoke on them made them smell like an old nasty ashtray. I saw very few of the CNA’s where gloves (person protection) going from cleaning up urine then immediately go to serving food I checked out the hospital on a Friday at 12:30 and into Medicalodge before 1:00 for rehab. I had to wait until 11:30 for pain medication. My wife brought in my home meds for my blood pressure and diabetes that I should of taken several hours earlier.this maybe the “Best Rated” place in Bates County, I would hate to see the worst!
By far the absolute best care my mother has received in a facility in 3 years is from Medicallodge of Butler. The care, professionalism and compassion is outstanding! So greatful for their level of treatment and for thier empathy. They have improved the quality of her life and in turn mine. What more can be said?
The administrator is horribly rude to the staff. I was appalled as a visitor to hear her berating one of the aides. The poor girl looked terrified. I asked my friend if this is a common thing and she said yes and the residents across the hall hear it all the time. When I went through memory care I noticed they would not let the residents stand up
