My mother had a recent stay for therapy after hip surgery. She was there for 4 1/2 weeks. Well needless to say she wasn’t able to get the therapy she needed because she ended up with a pressure sore on her heel after a week. She had so much pain in her foot she was not able to get proper therapy. She was supposed to be being treated with wound care to get it better, but instead of getting better it turned into staff infection. Staff infection wasn’t discovered until the end of week of her discharge. There are two really good aids that are wonderful. They just have too many residents to handle on their shift. Not enough staff to handle the residents. Also I had to complain several times about the smell in the bathroom. 2 rooms should not be sharing the same bathroom. That is unsanitary. Not sure if I will use this facility again.

Worst place to send a loved one. Staff very unfriendly and can’t answer simple questions. Always understaffed as they would tell you as an excuse for their poor quality of care. Only thing you will get here is neglect , blame shifting and excuses. Never greeted with a smile and they all looked mad at the world. If you don’t want your loved one to suffer and be miserable please avoid this place like the plague. Horrible. My loved one sat with a colostomy bag that wasn’t changed in 2 weeks.(they acknowledged this by apologizing profusely. No excuse)She was fed through feeding tube only . They had to be called on twice for forgetting to feed her. Feedings were given inappropriately. They would plunge the food into her feeding tube in seconds . She stayed bloated and nauseous because of it. I seen this personally on 2 seperate occasions. Patient on hospice Was chastised by nurse for too much family calling on her. Walked in on morning visit with her covered in feeces cause bag busted. Never answered call button when my loved one needed oxygen in middle of night. She had to call outside relative to call center and they still didn’t answer. Took an hour to get them to answer her nurse button for oxygen. Patients in “tv room “ looked all sad and zombie like with no interactions from staff whatsoever on every visit I’ve walked through there. Take my advise and stay from this death trap of misery . For those nurses that truly try and make a difference my heart goes out to you. Do Not send your loved ones there if you value them and their quality of care.

To the staff at Gonzales Health Care Nursing Home. Mrs. Janice J. Schonberg, daughter, and caregiver Charlene M. Julien would like to thank them for all that they have done and went over and beyond for helping with Mrs. Janice. I personally , Charlene Julien want to thank some of they employee by name for help me with Mrs. Janice. I take my hat off to them: Ms. Donna Chenervert, Kalyn Green, Lakesha Barker, Charmaine Jackson, Quavonna Burton, and Royce Stewart. They were my family. To the administrator I want to personally thank you as well. You don't find employees like these often. I think that they all deserve a little raise. To any person that's outside looking in for a good nursing home, try it for your family member. They did wonderful for me. I dropped the mic on that!! Much Love Always Charlene J.

My dad was here 3 days for the "rehabilitation". The Dr never seen him to prescribe him meds with a open wound from top to bottom of his stomach and a wound vac on. Their excuse???? The hospital only discharged him with a days worth meds....this is a nursing home...that is over crowded and a breading ground for sickness and infection for anyone with an open wound. Just because you put a gym in a nursing home doesn't mean it's a rehabilitation facility.Out of the 3 days they never got him out of the bed let him sit their in pain, and then the nurse turns to us and ask if the stuff coming out of his gallbladder was the right color. I made them transfer him back to the hospital he was in before being sent there, where they didn't send his stuff back with him, and lost the bag that I sent him up there with 2 brand new pairs of clothes and his phone and a brand new charger. Not only did they lose it they lied and told me someone had picked it up there was only 3 people that even knew he was there and none of us went and got it. These ppl should not be let have any responsibility over anyone if they can't even keep up with a patients bag much less anything else. If there was a 0 stars option they would have it. Please don't send your love ones here they absolutely will not get proper care. #neglect #irresponsible #noaccountability #falseadvertising
