This building is the original Grossmont Hospital and they made a nursing facility out of it. The staff is so warm and friendly. You have to feel compassion when you enter… they took the best care of my dear friend. So much care bear team going on. I found this place that was listed as care centers and we did walk ins to see which place to put my friend. We looked at three that were listed. The other two had all the bells and whistles we needed but this place although old, parking was very limited got me from the first greeting by Shelly. We visit my friend often and we are never disappointed. Very accommodating friendly and if my mama had to go to a place, this would be it…
Don't bring your loved ones here, my mother law came out worse then when she went in and for everything they found an excuse. Her belonging went missing clothing and cellphone. She had many falls and never got a call, only way we found out was through primary doctor because she had a follow up for a fall. We had to beg her doctor to have her released from the facility. When she came home she had a huge pressure sore and the facility didn't bother to disclose this to us. Do yourself a favor and heartache don't bring your loved ones here. I would give this facility 0 stars if I could.
Do NOT send your loved one here. All we wanted for our loved one was a place where she would be comfortable and cared for; she received neither. There was little to no interaction by staff with her during the day, zero communication with us unless it was initiated by us, no doctor oversight of her care. The conditions at the center are horrendous: uneaten meal trays left all day, floors were consistently dirty, bed and clothing left soiled, an unpleasant odor upon entry, and on multiple occasions medication was found on the floor. But the biggest concern is the lack of care. My loved one was brought to an outside doctor appointment UNATTENDED despite us being told on two different occasions that she would be accompanied by a CNA. She had documented cognitive impairments that would require her to have someone with her. She wandered from the doctor's office and was found on the ground unattended. She ended up in the hospital and then passing away. PLEASE let this be a warning to a loved one's family and do not bring them here.
My experience with working with this place was awesome. Julio was one of the most awesome people to work with. He went above and beyond for me and my mother, who is in there. He went out of his way to make sure that her stay was amazing, and that everything she needed was taken care of even when it wasn’t in his line of work thank you Julio for being such an amazing person
So my grandmother has been here for almost a month at the time of writing and I feel like it is time to post a review about this place. To start off: The staff are pretty friendly people, they are compassionate and seem caring for the family & patients (especially elderly). Food is just your typical nursing home food, nothing special or anything, they serve 3 meals a day and everyday is a different meal, and they also do dietary accommodations. Entertainment wise TVs are honestly pretty small which I think is weird but it’s not a complaint, they also have daily activities which I think is pretty cool. There’s a call button board right by my grandmas room which is REALLY loud and honestly seems like it can get really annoying especially for patients trying to sleep. Rooms are a little old and may be a bit dirty depending on the patient, rooms are also shared meaning that you or a family member may have/get a roommate. In Conclusion: It’s a good nursing home, there’s definitely a few things here and there that could be changed but care-wise it seems pretty good, but it’s only been close to a month so far so things may change in the future.
