Professional / Kind Disheartened Seasoned Nurse: My employment was a unique experience that I’ll never forget. I was the dedicated Rehabilitation Nurse who looked forward to rendering care to my residents including providing a welcoming environment to all including my coworkers. Family Members expressed their appreciation on a regular basis making it known also to Leadership. I was asked to become a Unit Manager which I declined because I loved being a bedside Nurse. I was given a spotlight for being a Great/ Caring Nurse on the facility’s Facebook Page. I was so grateful for the acknowledgment! Leadership Changed. The new Administrator was engaging with an open door policy. However the New DON ( Christina Stoner) was the opposite. Unprofessional which deteriorated the positive environment. She was unkind & gaslighted me every opportunity possible including humiliation in the presence of any audience. I exhausted every chain of command to conclude this situation including giving Human Resources a request to transfer to a different location in writing which was blocked. Dealing with this situation was detrimental to my mental health so again I made a request in written form to interchange my working hours to Evening and Weekends. Prior to the change in shift schedule I was terminated for a unjustified/ fraudulent reason. In addition I am not eligible for rehire with Saber Corporation.I had hoped for a different outcome maybe a (beautiful work experience) Nursing is my joy which I refuse to allow this experience to diminish that. SUBSEQUENTLY COMPANY FOLLOW UP: I don’t know why I thought alerting the Company would make a difference. My disappointment proceeds. There’s an old saying in the Nursing Community,The Ethical Environmental Issues stem from Prominent Rank and dwindles down to each facility’s Leadership Level Team. There’s always a lesson for each individual experience, I should have listened to prior Nurses, CNAs, Doctors Therapy Etc. that have worked for this company/ facility. (The Best Advertisement Is Verbal) As I’ve said goodbye to numerous Nurses I’ve oriented who alerted the reasons of expedited departure. I really thought I could have made a difference. All was not terrible, I met some beautiful people (Coworkers, Residents and Family members) Thank you so much for reaching out to me! I love and greatly miss you all!!
This Post-Acute Rehabilitation Community is a gem! Great Leadership and a team that is engaged and willing to cater to your care needs. A beautiful campus too. I would highly recommend this community.
5-Star Review for Matthews Health & Rehab Center I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care my mother received at Matthews Health & Rehab Center. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this facility prioritizes the well-being and happiness of its residents. One of the standout features of Matthews Health & Rehab is their Activities Department. The team here truly goes above and beyond to create a vibrant, engaging environment for all residents. Whether it's arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise classes, or themed social events, there's always something happening to keep residents mentally and physically active. My mom loved the weekly bingo sessions, and she was especially fond of the gardening activities they offered, which gave her a sense of purpose and joy. What impressed me the most was how the Activities Department tailors the events to meet the unique interests and abilities of each resident. Asst. Director of activities Joshua Gray is exceptionally kind, considerate and gentle in his care, thank you for always going above and beyond. They genuinely take the time to get to know everyone and make sure that each day is filled with activities that encourage socialization, creativity, and fun. My mom felt truly valued and included, and it made all the difference in her recovery journey. In addition to the activities, the staff is always friendly, professional, and attentive. The care team at Matthews is top-notch, and they communicate regularly with our family to ensure we're updated on her progress. I highly recommend Matthews Health & Rehab Center to anyone looking for a warm, caring, and engaging environment for their loved one. The Activities Department alone is worth the visit, but the overall care and attention to detail make it a standout choice!
I can’t say enough great things about Thea and her team in the activities department. They are truly phenomenal! They go above and beyond to ensure that the residents not only enjoy their time at the facility but also feel valued and engaged. Thea and her staff take the time to build genuine relationships with each resident, creating a warm and welcoming environment. Their dedication, creativity, and kindness make such a positive impact, and it’s clear that they truly care. This team is a shining example of what makes this facility special! Keep you the great work Activities Department!
I cannot express enough gratitude for the care my grandfather received at Matthews Health & Rehab. From the moment he arrived, the staff made a world of difference in his transition to the facility, but one employee, in particular, stood out: Joshua from the activities department. Joshua went above and beyond in helping my grandfather feel comfortable and welcomed. He took the time to engage with him by playing chess, which not only provided a fun distraction but also helped him socialize and build connections with others. This thoughtful interaction in his first week made a significant impact on my grandfather's adjustment to the new environment. It's clear that Joshua truly cares about the residents and their well-being. His kindness, patience, and dedication to fostering a sense of community are commendable. I highly recommend Matthews Health & Rehab, especially if you have the chance to work with Joshua in the activities department. Thank you for making my grandfather's experience a positive one!
