My brother was a patient at Vero. He was there for 3 months while going through Hospice. The staff did a wonderful job taking care of him. I am so appreciative for their support and care during a very difficult time. They were also very supportive of the family. Much love and appreciation for the center and everyone who works there. We couldn’t have done this without you.
The only reason this place gets even one star is because of the few staff who actually care. Beyond that, Sylva Valley Rehab is a complete disaster. Residents fall, slip, or get hurt, and it never gets documented—because staff don’t want to deal with the paperwork. Call lights ring for 15 minutes or more before anyone finally comes to check. At night, it’s even worse: calls go unanswered for ages, and residents are left yelling for help with no response. Even worse, vapes have been found in patients’ rooms and around the facility—staff just leave them out in the open like it’s normal. This place is basically still Vero, just with a different name, and it’s only operating because the state hasn’t caught them yet. They know when inspections happen and make sure to cover things up—but the truth is obvious. Residents deserve so much better. If nothing changes soon, Sylva Valley won’t be around for long.
Vero Health should be shut down, I wouldn’t send my dog there for a day. The way they treat their residents is inhumane. I’ve worked in several facilities and this one is by far the worst facility I have ever worked in. The residents don’t get changed, instead they lay in their urine, the food looks like slop, and residents go weeks without having a shower. The last time I worked there a resident who had the flu asked for Tylenol for 6 hours and the nurse wouldn’t give him any. To anyone thinking about sending their loved one to this place, DONT. The only good thing I’ve witnessed was their therapy department, other than that this place is the “hood” of nursing homes.
A family member spent two weeks here for physical therapy rehabilitation after an accident and was discharged today. It was the best decision that could have been made! The staff care was excellent, physical and occupational therapy staff were exceptional as was social worker Claudia. My family member also said the food was excellent and this compliment comes from a good cook. The facility is clean and other residents that I saw looked well cared for and content. There is no question in my mind that the progress made in just two weeks’ time was due to the care received at Vero. If someone is looking for a short-term physical therapy rehab facility, this is the place to go! (And, after spending over 30 years working in healthcare, I’m picky about the care that my family receives.)
Thank you to the whole staff for taking care of my one and only family member.,and all residents under 24/7 great care..blessings to all staff and families..
