Brookdale College Parkway

Brookdale College Parkway has become my home and I intend for that to be. I came here nervous about another huge change. But I am pleased I did. Not perfect but growing, and changing with improvements on a consisent level. It carries the feel of home for me and I consider the residents ... family.

Best independent senior living facility in Ft.Myers. The villas and apartments are beautiful. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious and the residents are the kindest people. It’s easy to make friends here and get involved in many activities. It’s pet friendly and just a happy place to live. Take a tour you will be amazed. If you leave to check out other places you will be back. Nothing compares to Brookdale on College.

I had an easy time leaving my house and moving into one of the Villas. No place is perfect but Brookdale is pretty darn good. We meet with the chef weekly to go over the previous weeks menu and make suggestions. The activities are fun and you can always find someone to play cards with. I love the location because shopping, doctors and restaurants are so close. I truly feel that all of the staff care about the residents.

Don’t buy the lies of the Grand Tour you’ll get at Brookdale! My mother was there almost ten years. I know! She had friends & was comfortable there - even after we asked repeatedly they refused to even clean her filthy stained carpet or replace it or fix anything! It had bugs & smelled. See pics. $4400/mo with annual rent increases! They brought in a woman named Linda who treated the residents & families like a drill Sargent. Everyone was afraid they were going to be evicted if they did or said something wrong! My mother was evicted because she was limping and they said she had obviously fallen & “couldn’t even remember it”! I took her to ortho who said NO fall after X-Ray! I was contacted by a concerned worker who was upset that they wouldn’t take my mother a ‘plastic’ fork with her meals because she might choke on it!!! She sneaked around to find her one. My mom had no such problems. It’s was obvious they were trying to force her out! When I called around looking for a new place 5 of them asked what was going on at Brookdale because they were getting five calls a week from ppl looking for a place to move to! They said one woman told them she was made to leave because she put a sandwich in the microwave that had foil in the wrapper she didn’t know about! Mom was broken hearted at 93 yo when she had to leave her home & friends. Saying what didI do wrong? Broke my heart! God works in mysterious ways and we moved her to a wonderful place with friendly ppl and a wonderful DR with great food (including a daily breakfast buffet) that’s open all day (even Sundays -no brown bag for Sunday dinner) with no lining up & standing in line & a hundred times better activities called Barkley Place!!!! Even has PT,OT etc. right there! They have welcoming ambassadors who make new residents feel right at home (escorting them from their apartments to a special new person table) even when they have a broken heart. Four days a week they have a free Happy Hour! I wish we would have found this place years ago. It’s clean & bright & sunny … that goes for the staff as well! They make ppl feel wanted! Shame on you Brookdale for treating the elderly like this and making them feel it’s a privilege to live there! You’re not supposed to be running a prison!!!
