We could not be happier with the care and attention our mother receives at the Bristal. The environment is clean and luxurious. The vibe is pleasant and refreshing. Our mother is in the reflections wing so I cannot speak to the general activities the rest of the population experiences but every week when we visit she is engaged and smiling. The activity staff is engaging and relevant to all the residents. Our mom is truly thriving here and I may even say her dementia has not progressed in the year she has been at the Bristal. The staff is not only professional, caring and upbeat but also specifically sensitive to our mom and our family’s needs. The kitchen manages her sugar free diet seamlessly and her diabetes is well under control. The medical staff, the PT staff are all excellent practitioners as well as active and involved in the day to day. We are all very happy with the Bristal in Lake Grove.
I don’t usually write reviews but my experience at The Bristal has been so exceptional I needed to put it out there. My grandmother was in a facility, previous to The Bristal, that was grossly negligent at best and needed to be moved. The care and team at the Bristal have exceeded my expectations. She is going down for meals for the first time in three years, is engaged with the community and has a new found sense of community. I would be remiss if I didn’t single out Barbara Heaphy. The energy and fun she brings to her interactions with the residents, and specifically my grandmother, is something that is rare in my experience with elder care facilities. She engages in a way that makes the residents feel vibrant and alive, and for that I am exceptionally grateful. I would highly recommended The Bristal!
My in-laws were at the Bristal for 15 months. They did have to be moved to a nursing home 2 months ago because they started to need care that couldn’t be provided at assisted living. I wanted to talk about the time that they were at the Bristal. First of all it is a beautiful facility. It looks like a hotel lobby and everything is very modern and very clean. The cleanliness is a huge factor and it was always clean. They have a beautiful outdoor area with nice paths that you can walk through. They also have an outdoor pool. We also experienced both aspects of the facility as far as the assisted living side and the memory care unit. The care provided to them was very good. They were very well taken care of. All the staff were good but of course there were a few that became particularly close with my in-laws. The day they moved out a few of the staff were crying because they had become attached to them and one of them has even visited them in the nursing home they are in. We were very present there so we got to know pretty much all of the staff including administration ,nursing , recreation, maintenance, housekeeping and front desk. They all knew who we were and were always accommodating. Overall it was a great experience that they had there and I would definitely recommend it.
We had my mom in another Assisted Living facility close to the Bristal of Lake Grove and my mom's health was declining rapidly in that facility..they did not give her the attention she needed..we talked with Karen the director of The Bristal in Lake Grove and she assured us they would take care of her. Well, My mom has made a 180 degree turn around since placed In The Bristal..I cant say how happy we all are! Thank You !!! We highly recommend The Bristal..The staff and the whole facility are EXCELLENT!
Writing for a friend's family member who are extremely dissatisfied with the care their loved one is receiving on Reflections floor. For the extensive amount of money the facility is recieving every month it does not match the quality of care they are getting .. Don't let them sleep in their clothes, coat n shoes...then allow them to spend the next day in the same clothes. and not washed for days. This is their GOLDEN years treat them like GOLD. It's been brought to management attention numerous amount of times and there hoping and praying that it gets better .You just can't get good help anymore,. They've lost weight n declined rapidly since admission. it's a dementia floor staff should realize they forget they're confused. You're trained to help them so guide them the right way, redirect them to wash, help them to put their pajamas on, don't just "okay" them then ignore them. You know they're not capable of doing it. Thays why you're there to help them . . I thank God i'm able to take care of my mother at home and Im not putting my loved one in a facility n watch what this poor family is going through..
