Brookdale Meridian Lakewood

I picked Brookdale Meridian Lakewood after touring eight facilities. It was the cleanest, most affordable, and had the best care staff to patient ratio. I was initially impressed with how kind the staff was during the visit. My sister lived her final weeks at Brookdale. The care staff was responsive and helpful and they treated my sister with dignity and respect while she was in hospice care. My sister's pain was well managed and she was as comfortable as possible until the end. I can't sing their praises enough and I never felt I made a poor decision in choosing Brookdale.

My experience with Brookdale Lakewood has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment we first walked in, the atmosphere felt clean, warm, and inviting—just like home. The facility offers so many activities for the residents, fostering a wonderful sense of community and connection. The staff is truly exceptional. They are gracious, caring, and go above and beyond to ensure every resident feels safe and cared for. They took such good care of my dad, not only looking after his physical needs but also making sure he felt valued and respected. What really stood out was how personal their care was—they took the time to get to know him as an individual. He knew the staff by name, and they knew him, which gave him a deep sense of comfort and belonging. Knowing he was in such a supportive and compassionate environment gave our family peace of mind. I can't recommend Brookdale Meridian Lakewood highly enough for anyone seeking a place where their loved one will be safe, honored, and genuinely cared for.

I've been wanting to write this review for years. In the winter of 2019- 2020, my loved one was in hospice at this Brookdale. The rooms were large and clean. The staff and medical team was kind, helpful, and professional. They took very good care of my loved one. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, it was one of the better medical experiences I have had in many. many years. I will always be grateful to the staff and medical providers there.

This place has been the most wonderful gift to our family, knowing our mother is happy & cared for on so many levels. The people who work here are compassionate and perceptive, from the dining room staff to the front desk, the activities folks to the maintenance staff, all the way up to the director; we have had incredible experiences interacting with everyone. They provide a welcoming helpful warm atmosphere for residents. They really care about the people who live there and strive to make it a place that is not only safe, but it's also a place that feels like home. EXCELLENT place to live and blessed to have found it!

Not worthy of even 1 star. I'm not sure I can list all the issues I have with this location and their independent living. Start with them taking several weeks to get the apartment ready for move in and accomplish all the things we were promised that would be completed in the apartment when initial paperwork was signed. Started moving my mom's belongings into the apartment before they had completed work and 1 week later, several of the items were missing. It took 3 weeks to get carpet replaced on the patio. Several weeks to install the washer/dryer that were supposed to be included. My mom lived there for 3 days before she got her emergency necklace, not to mention she requested a wristband. None were available. She was promised a free salon visit based on a giveaway they were having, never received the coupon. Cleaning is supposed to be done every other week. Even though they claimed it was done, I could see there was no trash emptied, no vacuuming done and sheets were not laundered as they promised. MOST ATROCIOUS incident was when their staff did painting on two lower walls in one of the hallways that is at a slight incline. In their infinite wisdom, in a facility with older people walking slowly, using walkers, using canes and other assistance, they decided to put plastic on the floor on both sides of the hallway leaving a narrow path between the 2 pieces of plastic no more than 2 feet wide. 5 days into living at the facility, my mom fell trying to avoid the plastic and broke her pelvis in 2 places. Needless to say, this event caused by their complete failure to provide a safe place for residents, has changed her life and her family's life forever. Because of this, she can no longer live independently. The manager of the facility, Robin, trying to be considerate, said she would not hold us to the 30 day notice required in the contract. WOW However, told me I only had until the end of the month to remove all of my mom's belongings. That meant 15 days to move everything from a one bedroom apartment back to her house in the midst of mom being in the hospital and rehab. I would never recommend this facility.
