We moved our 91 year old Mother out of there because their air conditioning broke and was out for at least 4 days. Our Mother could not breath,so we bought a standing air conditioner to cool off her room which was registering in the 80 degree mark. Immediately she could breath and was comfortable. The next day Craig the owner called my sister who is POA and told her that we broke our contract and we had 30 days to move our Mother! The Palms had no air for at least 4 days during the 90 degree heat wave. They had NO backup generator so the residents were at Craig's mercy! We have moved our Mother to another personal care home. Craig does not care about his residents and had No problem with them being with out air during the 90 degree heat wave! Please dont place your loved ones at The Palms! The owner does not care about his residents!
Recently, I went to visit a resident at the Palms and I was a little bit disturbed by the fact at one point I did point out the fact that I did smell urine about 20 feet in the door, but that’s to be expected because it’s part personal care and part independent What bothers me the most is. About a week ago for lunch they were serving chili however, the cooks that are supposed to know what they’re doing organize how many people they think are going to be there and they know that, they didn’t make enough chili. They only cooked four bags. I was told by one of the girls who work there, and the personal friend that I have that lives there how many other times have they run out of food ?that should never happen never. I also noticed that according to them, the state says that these people are only allowed to have 4 ounces of meat, potatoes and vegetables or whatever food they’re eating. They’re only allowed 12 ounces of food that’s what it comes down to. I know that’s the state minimum so they say, it could’ve changed. I don’t know. I just know there should never be an absence of food for those people. It’s enough they gotta live there to begin with. That’s why they only got two stars from me. I don’t find it that exceptionally clean, but it’ll do because most of the people that live there they don’t know the difference, and if they do, they’re not going to open their mouth they’re just gonna stay there and live in peace. The fact that you run out of food bothered me, and the fact that someone said that it was really hot in there that the electricity went down. They use the generator but it’s very very humid in that building. Well that may be,,but I think they ought to try to get that air fixed as soon as possible, I’ve been to a few personal care homes. They’re not the greatest unless you’re paying some really good money, but still, that’s no excuse,
Had to move my mother to a personal care home in March of this year. Visited 12 facilities. Chose the palms. It was difficult for my mother to go from independent living to personal care and living in 1 room. Staff worked very hard to make my mother feel comfortable. The place is clean, even a small private room is a good size. Staff keeps in touch with me on a regular basis. Several employees have really made an impact on my mother and myself. Candice and Craig whom I believe are upper management. Hard working staff members lee Lee, Jackie, Marie, Dominique, a.j., Sherry and Cheryl. The very pleasant lady that answers the phone who's name I can't remember is always so pleasant. It is always hard to make the decision to move a loved one into the care of others. I feel good about the decision I made and I feel positive that my mother is safe and that good, caring people are watching out for her.
I usually never write reviews but I feel the public needs to know where they could potentially be sending their own loved ones. If I could give 0 stars I would. After being advised to place my mother here, I was completely unaware of how unprofessional the inner workings of this facility was. I cannot stress enough, DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! My mother was here for only a few weeks, and within that short time period, she was assaulted by another resident who was placed in the same room with my mother only three days prior. They neglected to have both room phones working, and when trying to call out to family, the woman tried to barricade the entryway to their room with her personal wheelchair. Once my mother had gained access to her room she tried to call home, when the resident came up behind her and proceeded to punched her in the chest... Prior to these events, upon this resident being relocated to my mother's suite, she had demanded that tv's should not be utilized. The staff do not monitor nor protect residents from these horrid interactions. Nor do they evaluate the compatibility for rooming residents together. Staff members yell at you when trying to report incidents. They falsify what is being reported without being present on scene during these horrendous acts. It is beyond shocking that workers who yell at residents are still being employed at this establishment. Management does not fall far behind the staff, as they too are unsupportive and provide no assistance in protecting our loved ones. In modern times you are not allowed to simply assault someone and get away with it. They had no care in the world for what had occurred, I only wish I had better advisement in choosing a location for my mother. Please be warned what can occur in this facility...
The care at the Palms was horrible.Rude and understaffed .Did not get my medications as prescribed repeatedly was denied my inhaler numerous times.i have severe copd and needed to use my inhaler Denied my prescribed medication repeatedly The food was not good and residents went to bed hungry on many occasions I shared my food with residents. The windows and window sills were dirty. No air conditioning in rooms as it is turned off til May or June I was told.On numerous occasions good was served by hand .
