My mother was a resident of Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living for 9+ years before her recent passing. I live in Pennsylvania and had researched and visited 7 other New Jersey facilities before deciding on Magnolia. It was the best decision I made. I knew as soon as I walked into the facility that this was the one - large open area, clean, friendly staff. During these 9+ years the highest quality of care was maintained, I never had a complaint. Mom was treated as family by the entire staff even during her Hospice care. During one medical incident, it was one of the staff who came to her room to collect trash that noticed something was wrong and notified nursing. I can't say enough good things about Magnolia Gardens. Magnolia's staff will always be part of my family.
Excellent facility…caring, professional staff. Highly recommend. My aunt resided at Magnolia for 15 years, first in her own apartment and as her illness progressed in the Village. Magnolia provided top notch medical care, a kind staff, in a homey, friendly environment. My aunt enjoyed the activities, the food and the people. My sister and I were responsible for my aunt and since we live out-of-town we relied on the expert Magnolia team for communications. They were available to discuss her well-being; during Covid we participated in weekly Zoom updates; and we received weekly updates on her condition. Magnolia was always there and they always cared.
My mother in law has been at Magnolia Gardens for the past 4 years and when it was time for my mom I decided to have her there also. The entire staff, nurses, CNA's, LPN's, housekeeping, food service and many more are awesome. The care and compassion goes above and beyond. They are on top of everything that has to do with their care. I get calls immediately if something happens with either one of them. It was the best decision I've made. I recommend it 100%
DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE. Where to even begin? James, the head of the kitchen and husband to the DON/owner is a terror to the patients, staff, and anyone in between. They get NOTHING for food, not even allowed paper towels or anything from the facility. They eat worse than prisoners, I know because I work for the prison systems. Most meals are nothing more than a pb&j with a thin layer of each, watered down juice and maybe a side. James harasses patients both verbally and with verbal sexual harassment. His wife does nothing and won't remove him. Even his staff are afraid to help patients and give them a little extra for fear of his retaliation. They have mold growing in many areas, especially patients rooms, from a leak years prior where they did not replace anything not absolutely necessary. Despite the state or families paying for residents care, they still take all but $95 of the patients social security checks. They eat at around 10, around 1 then 4 and get n o t h i n g else at all unless they can buy it themselves. These are human beings. Father's, mother's, grandma's and grandpa's. They need more than a slice of bread for lunch or breakfast. Canned ravioli is not a healthy dinner. Most of them have strict dietary needs due to health and age, however James will not even accommodate for allergies, just degrades the patients reminding him of such a thing. No one should have to live in fear of terror or abuse such as this. Why are they not eating like kings when their entire social security checks is taken?
