Senior Helpers
Senior Helpers
Senior Helpers is a homecare agency serving Fort Collins, Colorado and surrounding areas. Homecare agencies provide non-medical personal care services that allow individuals to remain safely in their homes while receiving assistance with daily activities.
Services provided by homecare agencies typically include personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and respite care for family caregivers.
Colorado does not require state licensure for non-medical homecare agencies, though agencies are generally expected to comply with local business licensing requirements and employment laws. Families should verify that caregivers have appropriate background checks and that the agency carries liability insurance.
Payment Options: In Colorado, Medicaid may help pay for homecare services through programs like Elderly, Blind and Disabled Waiver, HCBS-SLS Waiver. These Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers help eligible individuals receive care at home instead of in an institutional setting. Contact Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing or visit https://hcpf.colorado.gov/long-term-services-and-supports to learn about eligibility and how to apply.
When selecting a homecare agency, consider factors such as caregiver screening procedures, training requirements, supervision practices, and the agency's responsiveness to client needs and concerns. Visit Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for more information about homecare services in Colorado.
Licensing requirements and regulations may change. We recommend verifying current requirements directly with your state's licensing agency.

I live in an independent living facility and we are blessed to have Senior Helpers onsite. Maria has been with Senior Helpers for a number of years and I cannot express what a tremendous job she and the other Senior Helpers staff provide to our residents. They are caring, compassionate and supportive. Working with seniors, their families and their diverse needs can be challenging I’m sure but they do it cheerfully and efficiently. It’s obvious they really care about the people they serve!
Senior Helpers, Maria and her team, have done a wonderful job providing daily care for Dad. They are professional and compassionate. They are the extra set of eyes that give you peace of mind. Appreciate everything they do and their communication with the family. Highly recommend Senior Helpers.
Poor communication/recording. Inexperienced/underpaid caregivers. Lacks experience with memory care. - My father has mild dementia and I confirmed with the coordinators multiple times that they will provide a heads-up when my father's primary caregiver is unavailable, because sending a new caregiver can be very confusing and unsettling for him. I informed them that we prefer nobody be sent, rather than somebody new. Twice in a row they sent a new caregiver without prior coordination. - The actual caregivers receive less than half of the money you are paying to this company, and it shows for some. I have had various experiences with the caregivers not following the notes in my father's profile. For example, one caregiver asked me multiple times where my father's medication was, details that are in his profile. My father does not take medication, but my concern is that if he did, it would be missed. - Communication to/from the caregiver is through a third party (meaning you have to contact a coordinator who will then contact the caregiver and vice versa). Some of the reasoning is valid, but it does cause a breakdown/delay in pertinent information.
I have two parents with dementia, and have managed their care for 4 years. During that time, I've used 4 home care agencies and dealt with 4 institutions. I've had positive experiences everywhere -- each facility and agency has its strengths. Having said that, Senior Helpers is in a league all their own. They are helping us care for my 90-year mom, who has advanced Alzheimer's. This is the first organization that allowed for e-signing the mound of paperwork required in this industry. Instead of having to take an entire day off of work to complete paperwork, I could sign everything in five minutes. Also, the quality of the caregivers is the absolute best in the industry. Both caregivers we have had so far, K and L, have been supremely qualified CNA's, with great people skills, tremendous initiative, and a willingness to do "whatever it takes" to care for Mom. Hard-to-find employees like these are attracted to well-run organizations, which Senior Helps appears to be. Because of Senior Helpers, our home is peaceful, orderly, and stress-free! Thank you, SH!
Senior Helpers have been a huge help for my 82 year old father. Their service are very flexible, so you're only getting the help you really need. One employee in particular, Rae, has been there whenever we needed her, even in emergencies on her day off she helped me find the necessary resources for my dad. They have definitely improved the quality of life for my aging father. Would recommend!
