Chelsea Jewish Hospice and Palliative Care
Chelsea Jewish Hospice and Palliative Care
Chelsea Jewish Hospice and Palliative Care is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Chelsea, Massachusetts and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.
Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.
Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

My mother was at Leonard Florence and the Katzman center and the experience was amazing. The level of care, kindness and communication was beyond our expectations. Our first experience was at Leonard Florence in 2013 for a hip fracture and the PT/OT and nursing care that my mother received was above excellent. She was later admitted to Chelsea Jewish NH now called the Katzman Center for beginning stages of dementia where she ended up staying for long term care. The staff treated my mother as if she was their mother. She never had an open area on her back side, never lost any weight and never had a fall. When she passed in 2018 the staff surrounded her with our family and cried as much as we did. I highly recommend either of these facilities for your loved ones!
My beloved Mother-in-Law (and I mean that sincerely) arrived about 3 months ago and is staying at the Florence/Chafetz Home for Specialized Care (CJF, Chelsea) now. The buildings are very clean. The food is good. Her space/room is so very comforting. The staff (from CNA's to Administrators) are very knowledgeable, caring and observant. The activities offered allow for everybody to be engaged! My beloved Mother-in-Law, like many others there, are very appreciative of the timely and kind help of the "everyday" staff, enjoy the many activities (especially the sing-a-longs - specialized to their age groups), look forward to competitive bingo get-togethers, and love the outdoor areas that inspire conversation, calmness, and a place to connect. Kudos to the CJF staff who have created a new home, a solid place of belonging, for my beloved Mother-in-Law! Bless you all! 7/6/2017
