Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
The personal care giver/CNA worker shall be assigned by the supervising registered nurse to specific recipients to do specific tasks for those recipients for which the personal care worker has been trained. The personal care worker's training for these specific tasks shall be assured by the supervising registered nurse. The personal care worker is limited to performing only those tasks and services as assigned for each recipient and for which he or she has been specifically trained for.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assistance with bathing
MUST HAVE A CAR
Assistance with getting in and out of bed
Mouth, denture and hair care
Assistance with mobility and ambulation including use of a walker, cane or crutches
Changing the recipient's bed and laundering the bed linens and the recipient's personal clothing
Skin care, excluding wound care
Care of eyeglasses and hearing aids
Assistance with dressing and undressing
Toileting, including use and care of bedpan, urinal, commode, or toilet
Light cleaning in essential areas of home used during personal care services activities
Meal preparation, food purchasing, and meal serving
Simple transfers, including bed to chair or wheel chair and reverse (Continued)
Accompanying the recipient to obtain medical diagnosis and treatment
Services- prior authorization
Delegated task by RN
Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge of personal care and home management skills
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal care services, including needs determinants, meeting quality standards and evaluation of client satisfaction.
Knowledge of the English language.
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries including emergency first aid and CPR
Knowledge of clerical procedures such as maintaining records and completing forms
The ability to competently assist clients with their activities of daily living
The ability to be aware of other people's reactions understanding why they react as they dog
