Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
Interacts with residents and staff in a professional and friendly manner at all times and
possesses compassion for residents.
• Interacts with care staff, co-workers and supervisors in a professional, respectful and
caring manner at all times.
• Follows nursing service policies and procedures.
• Administers resident rights program.
• Evaluates and assesses resident care and develops a care plan for each resident, if
needed.
• Administers and documents all medication management for residents.
• Updates resident medication charts as needed.
• Notifies resident’s physician and family of change in resident’s condition.
• Documents family and resident concerns with healthcare management.
• Assists with training caregiving staff.
• Directs, supervises and evaluates caregiver staff performance, including
recommendations to supervisor for disciplinary actions.
• Serves as supervisor during absence of Director of Nursing (typically 2nd and 3rd shifts).
• Ensures nurses station is neat, clean and organized.
• Demonstrates high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
• Completes on-going training as required by state regulations.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with co-workers, residents, family
members, guests, and service providers.
• Attends mandatory meetings.
• Follows all OSHA, Fire, Health Department and safety requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Position requires sitting, standing and walking, for extended periods.
