Hitz Memorial Home

My Dad was at Hitz. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is evident they care about their residents. The administrator, nurses, housekeepers, and everyone in between go above and beyond to make Hitz a great place. There is no smell. The food is good. The rooms are clean. It’s a very old building, keep that in mind. That doesn’t reflect the care they give. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for their loved one. The administrator is also a nurse and she is fantastic.

I have visited my grandmother multiple times and everyone has always seemed helpful and nice. She was always taken care of and was always talking about the activities she was able to do with other residents. She has formed connections with staff and residents and feels like she has a whole other family there. Thank you so much for all of the care you do for your residents!

Everyone at Hitz treats my Dad as if he’s family. He was 100% against moving in, and we’d hoped he’d learn to accept. But he’s blossomed! He’s made friends with the residents and has developed a rapport with one of his nurses, Bill. The facility is always clean, the staff is always available and there’s none of ‘that’ smell EVER. Dad’s happy there and that makes me happy.

I highly recommend the Hitz Home as a new home for an aging parent. My mother was very reluctant to leave her home, but it became medically necessary. We looked at all of the facilities in the Metro East and the Hitz Home was the best for us. My mom's top three requirements were that it be clean, the staff friendly, and that it not have a clinical look. The Hitz home's atmosphere is that of a home - the facility is beautifully decorated and very clean with a lot of options for residents to get out of their rooms. The staff is just wonderful to interact with as they are extremely helpful and caring to both residents and family members. There are a lot of activities to do and the staff personally invites the resident when they are getting ready to start so they don't miss out. The food is good and plentiful and meals are a enjoyable, social time with other residents. The nursing care is excellent - my mother's health and overall appearance has improved significantly now that she is getting the care she needs. The Hitz Home is a wonderful new home to my mom and I commend the staff and administration for the service they provide to their residents every day.

My dad moved to Hitz Memorial Home in early March this year. He had lived in Assisted Living for ten years. We chose Hitz for several reasons. He had been there about 14 months earlier for physical therapy and he received great care. So when it was time to look for a long-term skilled nursing facility, we knew where he would want to be. Many of the folks at Hitz have been there for years, so the staff turnover is much lower than other places. The staff - from management to nursing to CNA's to cafeteria to therapy - are exceptional. Although the decor is outdated, Hitz is kept clean. Every day that you visit you will find custodians hard at work. Dad was happy to be able to get all of his favorite tv channels and he loved playing Bingo. He made many friends very quickly with both residents and staff, and he was so happy to be there. Nursing was very attentive to all of his needs and they always kept me informed. Sadly, my dad lost his battle with his heart failure and PSP a few days ago, but it was so important to me and my husband to make sure that every person at Hitz knew how much my dad (and we) appreciated the care and compassion he received. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, please visit Hitz and talk with Miranda. Your loved one will feel like he/she is at home after a few days. We will miss seeing these wonderful people. Where your loved one spends his/her last chapter is IMPORTANT. Hitz is is located in Alhambra, Illinois, but oh so worth the drive!! Thank you for taking such excellent care of my dad.
